If you're expecting a significant difference between the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G (CM6) and the regular Tecno Camon 40 (CM5), you might be disappointed. Aside from the Pro model's curved display, improved build quality, and higher-megapixel front-facing camera, there's nothing else that gives the phone an edge over the regular version.
Even unlike the regular version, the Pro 4G is available in only one RAM and internal storage configuration. It also lacks the microSD card slot (for storage expansion) found on the regular model.

That said. Generally, the Camon 40 Pro 4G is a premium looking budget phone. It sports a big curved display and has impressive build quality. The phone is also equipped with good cameras and delivers remarkable selfies.
Although its processing power and performance are similar to those of others at this price point, unlike most of them however, the phone is pre-installed with the latest Android OS. It also features a slightly bigger battery and faster charging. The Camon 40 Pro 4G also includes some essential features like an IR blaster and a noise-cancelling microphone. Its stereo speakers also sound better.
However, unlike many of those phones, the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G lacks a 3.5mm audio jack (in addition to its lack of microSD card slot).

Design Colour And Price:
The Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G is available various colour options of Emerald Lake Green, Glacier White, and Galaxy Black. Currently, the starting price of the phone is about 358,000 Naira.

Premium Design And Impressive Build Quality.
The Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G has a 6.78-inch hole-punch display. Which is also what you get on the regular version. But the display on the Pro 4G is a curved one. Similar to that of the last year's Tecno Camon 30S, but more sleeker.
Meanwhile, as a result of its edge to edge screen, the front of the Camon 40 Pro 4G looks more appealing than that of the regular model. But the rear panel of the two phones look identical.
The rear panel design is still based on that of the last year's regular Tecno Camon 30. And at a glance, the rear panel reminds me of the earlier phone.
But there are few cosmetic updates. Firstly, the pretty circular ring or bump is missing on the latest phone. The vertical stripe (which Tecno now calls Swan neck) has also been moved (from the right side) to the left. And it has also been raised (above the flat surface) a little. The vertical stripe also now serves as a camera module for the three vertically arranged rear cameras of the Camon 40 Pro 4G.

Though, as a result of those cosmetics updates, the back of the Camon 40 Pro 4G looks look more appealing than that the Camon 30S, but it (especially the one with Galaxy Black colour option) looks less appealing than that of the regular Camon 30. My own opinion though.
Still, as i said, and with other colour options such as Emerald Lake Green and Glacier White, the Camon 40 Pro 4G looks more premium and classier than the Camon 30S.
And despite having an identical curved display as the Camon 30S, the Camon 40 Pro has a slimmer frame (7.3mm), a lesser weight (177g), and better build quality than the earlier phone. For instance, while the earlier phone is IP53 (water splash and dust resistance) certified, the Camon 40 Pro 4G is IP68 certified. Meaning it can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 metre of water for about 30 minutes.
Also while the earlier phone's display is protected with a regular Corning Gorilla Glass, the one on the Camon 40 Pro 4G is protected with a more recent and slightly tougher Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Nonetheless, the arrangements of buttons and ports on the Camon 40 Pro 4G are still similar to those on the Camon 30S. Safe for the presence of an orange-coloured button; located on the left side of the latest phone. Which Tecno calls One-Tap button. And its functionality is similar to that of the traditional Google Assistant button.
At default, One-Tap button is assigned to the Tecno Voice Assistance otherwise known as Ella, and a recently introduced AI feature called FlashSnap. Double pressing the One-Tap button launches the FlashSnap. FlashSnap lets you take multiple shots of a fast moving object. It then quickly process the whole shots and reproduce the best looking one. On the other hand, long pressing the One-Tap button summons Ella. Yet, the One-Tap button can be remapped for other functions.

Meanwhile, as i said, the 3.5mm audio jack is also missing on the latest phone. And you still have a USB Type-C port, a microphone, a speaker, and a SIM slot on the bottom side. The phone's SIM tray, as i said, also has no slot for microSD card. And it can take two 4G nano-SIM cards.
Furthermore, the power button and volume keys are still on the left side. The top side also houses a IR Blaster, a noise-canceling mic, and second speaker.

If you love the curved or edge to edge design of the Camon 40 Pro 4G but desires a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot,  then you should check out the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G and Infinix Hot 50 Pro+. But you should know that this Tecno phone has the best cameras (especially the selfie lens) out of the three phones. The build quality of the Camon 40 Pro 4G is also more superior. Followed by that of the Redmi phone.

Same Big, Nice-looking, 120Hz Display:
Like the one on the Camon 30S, the 6.78-inch curved display of the Camon 40 Pro 4G also has an AMOLED panel and features the same 1080p resolution of 2436-by-1080 pixels. The high screen refresh rates (for smoother gaming, page swiping, and scrolling) also peaked at 120Hz. The Under-Display fingerprint reader is also swift and responsive. Virtually all other display attributes including Always On Display (AOD) also remain the same.

The display also preserves the impressive picture quality of the earlier one. It is noticeably clear and sharp. Colours are vibrant and they are moderately saturated. The display is also noticeably bright. With manual slider, the peak brightness is about 600nits. And it can go up to 1300nits in Auto mode. As a result, the display is viewable under direct sunlight. By the way, if you prioritize display above other features, then you should know that both of the Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ and Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G offer similar nice looking displays. Even, in Auto mode, the display of the Redmi phone is a little more brighter than the ones on the Camon 40 Pro 4G and Hot 50 Pro+.

Meanwhile, like the one on the Camon 30S, the AMOLED display of the Camon 40 Pro 4G lacks support for and is unable to display HDR contents. Notwithstanding, the display fully supports Widevine L1 DRM certification. Meaning, you can watch videos in "1080p or High Definitions" (and in improved colour reproduction) on streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Camera: Life-Like Photography.
The Camon 40 Pro 4G features a triple rear camera like the Camon 30S. And it also has a 50MP main camera. Though the latest phone's camera has a Sony LYT-700C sensor compared to Sony IMX890 sensor on the earlier model. Still both of the sensors are technically the same.
However, the 2MP Depth sensor on the earlier phone has been replaced with an 8MP Ultra-wide sensor: which is preferable. The third camera has an undisclosed sensor. Probably a QVGA or AI sensor. This often assist the main camera for better outputs.
Turning to the front, the Camon 40 Pro 4G features a 50MP selfie lens. A remarkable upgrade from the 13MP selfie lens on the Camon 30S.

Generally, photos captured by the Camon 40 Pro 4G are impressively sharp and detailed. However, there are few others in this segment that also deliver similarly detailed photos. For example, due to its higher megapixel main sensor, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G captures slightly more detailed photos than the Tecno phone. However, the shots from the Tecno phone are a little brighter or well exposed which as a result of its  sensor larger aperture.

But where the Tecno phone's camera really stands out is in aspect colour rendition. For a budget phone at this price point, the colour rendition of the photos captured by the Camon 40 Pro 4G is impressive. Colours are life-like, clean, and balanced. Human subject skin tone looks good.
In fact, when it comes photography, the only 4G phone that rivals the Camon 40 Pro 4G is the more affordable Samsung Galaxy A16 4G. Yet, despite that the shots captured by the Samsung seem a little more vivid or have better contrast, colours are slightly pop side or a little more exciting.
The dynamic range of the Tecno phone photos is noticeably wider too, compared to the ones from the Samsung phone. However both of the phones low-light shots and portrait shots look similar and quite okay for phones at this price point.
Photos taken with the phone's 8MP ultra-wide camera also maintain the impressive color rendition of those from the main camera, but they lack the same level of detail and clarity.

On the other hand, and as a result of its unusual higher megapixel front camera, the Camon 40 Pro 4G delivers a more detailed and clearer selfies than virtually all other 4G phones in this segment. The selfies also maintain the life-like colour rendition of the shots from the rear camera. Skin tone, dynamic range, portrait selfies also look on point.
By the way, with both of its front and rear cameras, the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G can shoot video up to 2K at 30fps. Both of the front and rear cameras also feature video stabilization. But while the video stabilization of the rear camera is Optical (OIS), the one of the front is Electronic (EIS). Also when the video Stabilization is On, the Camon 40 Pro 4G can only shoot videos up to 1080p.

Latest Software, Recent CPU, But Same Processing Power And Storage:
Out of the box, the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G boots the latest HiOS 15.0.1 custom UI on top of the latest Android 15 OS. And Tecno assures buyers up to 3 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches for the Camon 40 Pro 4G.
We're in the season of AI features, and the phone comes pre-installed with a whole lot of them. Apart from the Google Gemini, the phone also comes pre-installed with Google Circle To Search.
The Tecno phone also includes AI Wallpaper Generator, AI Magic Eraser, and Real-time Call Translator, to mention a few. And while the AI Magic Eraser erases unwanted object (or subject) in your photo, the Real-time Call Translator is useful when you want to speak to someone that you don't understand his or her language.

On its hardware features, the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G is powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate CPU. Which is the same processor that's inside the earlier Camon 30S. By the way, the Helio G100 Ultimate CPU is a 6nm octa-core processor with clock speeds of up to 2.2 GHz. And it has Mali-G57 MC2 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
Since the processor is also what's inside the Camon 30S, and it's also what comes with the Infinix Hot 50 Pro+, Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G, and the regular Camon 40, the performance of the Camon 40 Pro 4G is not different from those of the listed devices.

When it comes to day to day usage and averagely demanding tasks, the Camon 40 Pro 4G is smooth and responsive. It navigates through various apps quickly and plays online high definition videos without lagging.
The phone also played most of the less demanding games without lagging. But, like the aforementioned phones and its predecessor, it had to play the demanding games at either low frame or low graphics setting, to ensure consistent smoothness.
Meanwhile, while its predecessor and the regular Camon 40 comes in various RAMs and inbuilt storage options, the Camon 40 Pro is available in only RAM and internal storage option of 8GB and 256GB respectively. Also since it lacks a microSD card slot, the phone's inbuilt storage can not be expanded. Nonetheless, the inbuilt is storage is spacious enough for most users.

Bigger Battery And Faster Charging:
While its predecessor and most of other similarly priced 4G phones have regular 5,000mAh batteries, the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G packs a slightly bigger battery of 5,200mAh. Still, if you would prefer a bigger one, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G is equipped with a 5,500mAh battery. But the Redmi phone's fast charging is lower than that of the Camon 40 Pro 4G. While the Redmi phone features 33W fast charging; which is also what you get on the earlier Camon 30S, the Camon 40 Pro 4G features 45W fast charging.
And with its complementary 45W charger (included in its box), it'll take you about 1 hour 14 minutes to fully charged the Tecno Camon 40 Pro 4G battery from zero percent.
