The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 4G (24117RN76G) preserves the good value (for money) reputation of its predecessors. Despite its affordable price, the phone has a premium look and good build quality. It also sports a big, vibrant display. And features an under-display fingerprint reader. The Redmi Note 14 4G also packs a huge battery and comes with a pair of noticeably loud and clear speakers.
Under the hood also, the phone is equipped with a powerful CPU and spacious internal storage. It also comes pre-installed with a recent Android OS. And it is guaranteed to receive future OS updates.

And while having the same CPU, storage space, Android version and RAM as the competition, the Redmi Note 14 4G boasts a more vibrant display and a better build quality. The stereo speakers that come with the phone also sound better and clearer than the ones on the competing phones. The Note 14 4G also packs a larger battery and offers a few other useful features such as a noise-cancelling microphone and an IR Blaster.
Though the Redmi Note 14 4G is also equipped with higher megapixel cameras, and photos taken with the phone look good, however, the photos (especially selfies) look less impressive, compared to the ones from the main contenders.

Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 14 4G preserves the looks and all other physical attributes of the earlier Redmi Note 13 4G. In fact, if not for the presence of a camera bump on its back cover, it would have been difficult to tell the new phone and the earlier one apart.
Besides wearing the same looks, the Redmi Note 14 4G also preserves virtually all other features of its predecessor.
Still, there are few, but important, upgrades. Firstly, the CPU that powered the new phone is a little more powerful than the one inside the Redmi Note 13 4G. The new phone is also pre-installed with Xiaomi's new custom UI. And it is running the custom UI on top of a recent Android OS. The display of the new is also protected with a stronger Corning Glass. The Note 14 4G also comes with a higher megapixel front-facing camera. And it's equipped with a larger battery.
However, except for the highlighted ones, every other attribute and feature of the Redmi Note 14 4G remains as those of the Redmi Note 13 4G.

Design Colour And Price:
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 4G is available various colour options of Mist Purple, Lime Green, Midnight Black, and Ocean Blue. Currently, the starting price of the phone is about 250,000 Naira.

The Competing Phones:
Although the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G attracts a little lower price than the Redmi Note 14 4G, it's fitted with a slightly lower RAM. But, the phone has the same CPU and internal storage space as the Note 14 4G. The Galaxy A16 4G is also running on the same Android version. Even Samsung promises a much longer OS updates for the A16. The Samsung phone's custom UI is also more cleaner. Photos taken with the A16 are also more true-to-life. And the phone's display has a slightly better colour reproduction. Furthermore, the Samsung phone is well put together and looks slightly more premium than the Note 14 4G.
However, the phone sports a notched-display; which looks less appealing than the hole-punch display of the Note 14 4G. In addition that, the Samsung's screen bezels are slightly thicker. Its high screen refresh rate is also lower than that of the Note 14 4G. The Samsung phone also lacks the dual speaker, 3.5mm audio jack, under display fingerprint reader and IR Blaster of the Redmi phone. It's also has standard battery capacity and slightly lower fast charging. Also typical of a Samsung phone, the A16 doesn't come with charger.

Although the standard version of the Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ attracts higher price than the Redmi Note 14 4G, the phone's base version attracts the same price as the standard version of the Redmi phone. And both of them feature the same amount of RAM and inbuilt storage.
That said. Because the Infinix phone has a curved display, it looks more appealing than the Note 14 4G. Also like the photos taken with the Samsung phone, photos from the Hot 50 Pro+ are also more true to life. The Infinix phone also offers a recently introduced CPU. Still, the CPU has the same processing power as the one inside the Redmi. Their performances are also similar. And despite that the Infinix phone also features the same Android version as the Note 14 4G, Infinix didn't promise more than one year of OS update for the phone. The Hot 50 Pro+ also has a standard battery like the Samsung A16 4G. But it features the same charging speed as the Redmi phone. Charger and all other accessories also included in the box of the Infinix phone. Furthermore, the Hot 50 Pro+ also features under-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers and the same screen refresh rate as the Note 14 4G. But like the Samsung phone, the Hot 50 Pro+ doesn't come with 3.5mm audio jack.

By the way, it should be noted that it's only the Infinix phone that features 3-in-1 SIM tray, both of the Redmi and Samsung phones come with Hybrid SIM trays.
Furthermore, another competing phone is Tecno Spark 30 Pro. Though the Tecno phone has been around for a while, but it's worth checking out.

Same Premium And Sleek Design:
As a result of their identical physical features, the Redmi Note 14 4G is as nice looking as the earlier Redmi Note 13 4G. In detail, the Note 14 4G preserves the 6.67-inch hole-punch display, flat sides, and flat rear of its predecessor. It also maintain the slim bezels of the earlier phone. The Redmi Note 14 4G also preserves the earlier phone's glossy finish. Which, though, enhances the beauty of the phone but attract smudges and fingerprint easily. However, to conceal that, the Note 14 4G comes with a protective rubber casing in the box.
Also, like its predecessor, the Note 14 4G has a pair of vertically stacked camera ring on its back, but as i said, the latest phone comes with a camera bump. Which houses the camera rings and LED Flash. However, while the absence of a camera bump enhances the premium looks of the Note 13 4G, its (bump) presence diminishes the premium looks of the latest phone. In other words, and talking about overall design, the Redmi Note 13 4G looks more appealing and sleeker than the new Redmi Note 14 4G.

Furthermore, and in addition to the camera bump, another thing that differentiates the new phone from the earlier one is its stronger Corning Glass protection. In other words, while the display of the earlier phone is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the display of the latest phone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. As a result of its improved build quality and slightly bigger battery, the Note 14 4G weigh a little more (196g) than the 189g Note 13 4G. But the phone is still noticeably flat (8.2mm) and maintains the IP54 (Water Splash and Dust resistance) rating of its predecessor.
The connectivity and buttons also remain as those of the earlier phone. The phone's power button and volume keys are found on its right side. And there's nothing on its left side. Because the Hybrid SIM slot (and tray) is located on the bottom side. Alongside a USB Type-C port, first speaker, and primary microphone. The secondary (or noise-cancelling) microphone is placed on the top side; with a 3.5mm audio jack, an Infrared (IR Blaster) port and second speaker.
By the way, if you prioritize appealing and sleek design, you should consider Infinix Hot 50 Pro+.

Decent Camera:
Same as its predecessor, the Redmi Note 14 4G has a 108MP main sensor and a 2MP Macro sensor. But the earlier phone's 8MP Ultra-wide camera has been replaced with a 2MP Depth sensing camera on the Note 14 4G. The earlier phone's 16MP front-facing camera has also been upgraded to a 20MP camera.
By default, the Main camera captures photos in 12MP Mode. Which doesn't look so good or detail. If you want noticeably detailed and better looking shots, you need to switch to 108MP mode.

That said, photos taken with the Redmi Note 14 4G's main rear camera preserve the nice picture quality of the earlier model. The photos are noticeably clear and detailed. Even the issue of insufficient brightness (which started on the photos taken with the Redmi Note 12 and partly rectified on the Note 13's photos) have been resolved on the latest phone. In other words, photos taken by the latest phone are noticeably bright and vivid. However, in some photos, the brightness appears to be in excess or blown. Still, the phone managed to deliver decent HDR shots. The subject separation and background blurring effect of portrait shots also look good. The photos' colour rendition also look nice. Colours are vivid, life-like and moderately saturated.
Both low-light shots and dedicated Night Mode shots are also clear and bright. The Macro shots are also moderately clear. But colours are on the saturated side.

Turning to the front. As a result of its slightly higher megapixel front camera, selfies taken with the Redmi Note 14 4G are noticeably more detailed than the ones from the earlier phone. HDR and portrait selfies also look okay. Although the selfies' colour rendition is good too. But the brownish tone or tinge that affects the skin tone of the selfies taken with the earlier model still persists on the ones taken with the latest phone. Though the brownish tinge is minimal (or less glaring) on the latest phone selfies. But it's there. Though, it'll only be noticeable to average users if they have the privilege of comparing the selfies to the ones from the likes of the Galaxy A16 or Hot 50 Pro+. In other words, and in spite of their lower megapixel selfie lens, selfie taken with both of the A16 and Plus have better skin tone.

Meanwhile, like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 14 can only shoot videos, with both of its front and rear camera, up to 1080p. But while the earler phone's 1080p video recording is peaked at 30fps (frame per second), the one of the latest phone peaked at 60fps. By the way, among the competing phones, it's only the Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ that can shoot video up to 2k.

Familiar 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED Display:
As i said, the Redmi Note 14 4G preserves the display properties of the Note 13 4G (and that of the prior Note 12 4G). Besides having the same 6.67-inch screen size, the display also features an AMOLED panel and 20:9 aspect ratio. The 1080p resolution is also made of the same 2400-by-1080 pixels (or 394ppi pixel density). And the high screen refresh rate (for smoother gaming, page scrolling and swiping) is still 120Hz. And the refresh rate options are still Dynamic, 60Hz and 120Hz.

The display also retains the impressive picture quality of its predecessors. In detail, the AMOLED display of the Note 14 4G is clear, vibrant and has nice colour reproduction. Colours are rich and vivid too. It's also impressively bright. Redmi says the display brightness peaks at 1800nit (in Auto mode). But that's on paper. Because in practical, it's a little less than 1500nit. Still, that's enough for outdoor usage. And with manual slider, the display brightness peaks around 500nit. Which is also okay for most normal lighting conditions.
You should know that the display is also the brightest among the competition, and in this segment. Which makes the Note 14 4G to be a right choice for outdoor usages. But when it comes to colour reproduction or better colour gamut, the Super-AMOLED display of the Galaxy A16 4G outshines the Note 14 4G a little.

Meanwhile, like the one on its predecessor, the AMOLED display on the Redmi Note 14 4G lacks support for and is unable to display HDR contents. Notwithstanding, the display fully supports Widevine L1 DRM certification. Meaning, you can watch videos in "1080p or High Definitions" (and in improved colour reproduction) on streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Recent Software, Upgraded CPU, But Same RAM And Storage Configuration:
While the earlier Note 13 4G was pre-installed with MIUI, the Redmi Note 14 4G is pre-installed with the new HyperOS custom UI. And the phone is running the new custom UI on top of recent Android 14 OS. And there's an assurance of up to three years of OS (Android 15, 16 and 17) updates for this phone. It should be noted that among the competition, it's only the Galaxy A16 that promises a longer OS updates than the Note 14 4G.

As I mentioned before, and apart from being pre-installed with the new software, the Redmi Note 14 4G also features a slightly beefier CPU, compared to its predecessor. In detail, the Qualcomm SnapDragon 685 CPU that's inside the earlier model has been replaced with MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate CPU. Though, the Helio G99 is also a 6nm entry-level chipset like the Qualcomm SD685. Even the MediaTek CPU has a lower maximum clock speed of 2.2Ghz; compared to 2.8Ghz speed of the Snapdragon CPU.

However, in performance tests, the Helio G99 slightly outscored the SD685. Also, in real life situations or day to day usages, the MediaTek CPU outrun SD685. In other words, the Note 14 4G is more responsive and opens multiple apps faster than the Note 13 4G. The latest phone also handles average demanding tasks such as quick multitasking and video streaming better.
Even though both of the phones are meant for moderate gaming, the Note 14 4G handles demanding games better than its predecessor. The new phone played many demanding games at high graphics settings and high frame rate without lagging or stuttering. Though as expected, the frame rates and graphics settings had to be dropped for some games, to ensure consistent smoothness.
By the way, the performance of the Redmi Note 14 4G is similar to those of the two competing phones.
Meanwhile, the Note 14 4G retains the 6GB of RAM and 8GB of RAM options of its predecessor. The internal storage option is also either 128GB or 256GB. And the internal storage space can also e expanded, via microSD card, up to 1TB (Terabyte).

Bigger Battery, Same Quick Charging.
While its predecessor and the competition are equipped with standard 5,000mAh batteries, the Note 14 4G is equipped with a bigger 5,500mAh battery. As a result, the phone has a longer battery life than the competition and its predecessor.
Still, the phone retains the 33W quick charging of the earlier model. Xiaomi also includes a 33W charger in the box of the latest phone.
However, due to its bigger capacity, it took about one hour twenty two minutes to fully charge the Note 14 4G battery from zero percent. While it took its predecessor about one hour fourteen minutes to do, with the same 33W charger.
