Note: From its looks to internal features, Tecno Camon 19 Pro (or Camon 19 Pro 4G) has almost everything in common with the Tecno Camon 19 Pro 5G, except for the fact that the Pro 5G offers a slightly better processor; which also supports 5G networks, as the name suggested. But, Camon 19 Pro, on the other hand, comes with an improved or slightly better cameras.
Except for those ones, both Tecno Camon 19 Pro and Camon 19 Pro 5G are practically the same phones.
Meanwhile, the better equipped Tecno Camon 19 Pro (CI8) wear the same elegant, premium and all-flat appearance as the regular Camon 19 (CI6). The phone also maintain the same thin bezels and the same beautiful Dot-in display of the standard phone.
Physically, there's no much difference between Tecno Camon 19 Pro and the regular Camon 19. Apart from wearing the same looks, both of them also feature the same aspect ratio and the same form factor (size and shape). The Dot-in display of the Pro model also has the same 6.8-inch screen size and the same 1080p resolution. The back of the phone is also mounted with an identical circular camera modules. In short, place them side by side, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro and Tecno Camon 19 look exactly alike.
Apart from the looks and display, the Pro variant also shares many features with the standard variant.
For instance, Tecno Camon 19 Pro also features a 64-megapixel triple rear camera as the Camon 19. This phone also come with a single speaker, 5000mAh battery, USB Type-C port, and support for fast charging.
Yet, despite sharing those features with the Camon 19, the ones on the Pro model are slightly upgraded.
Firstly, while the regular Camon 19 Pro comes with an 18W fast charging, Camon 19 Pro support an higher 33W fast charging. Also compared to the regular 60hz screen refresh rate of the Camon 19, Camon 19 Pro support an high screen refresh rate of 120hz (for smoother page scrolling and animation).
And despite having a triple rear camera and a 64-megapixel main sensor like the Camon 19, Camon 19 Pro is fitted with an improved and better sensors. The Pro phone also offers an higher or 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
Under the hood also, Camon 19 Pro packed a better CPU and has higher RAM than the regular Camon 19. And it's also equipped with twice storage space.
In other words, and better than the Helio G85 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB inbuilt storage of the Camon 19, Camon 19 Pro is fitted with the Helio G96 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB inbuilt storage.
Yet, except for its better processing power and the improved features (mentioned above), the rest of its specs of the Camon 19 Pro, as i said earlier, are still similar to those of the regular Camon 19.
Meanwhile, it's obvious from the above that Tecno Camon 19 Pro maintain the internal configurations of its predecessor, Tecno Camon 18 Premier (CH9). In other words, Camon 19 Pro has the same CPU, same RAM, and the same internal storage capacity as the previous Camon 18 Premier.
The initial given specs of the Camon 19 Pro also shows that the phone shares camera system and fast charging rate with the earlier model. Even it should be recalled that Camon 18 Premier also featured a similar Dot-in display. In fact, if not for its circular camera modules, Tecno Camon 19 Pro phone would have looked exactly like the earlier Camon 18 Premier. Not to forget that the 6.8-inch display of the Camon 19 Pro is just minute bigger than the 6.7-inch of the Camon 18 Premier.
But despite that the Camon 19 Pro display also features 1080p resolution and has the same 120hz screen refresh rate as one of the earlier model, the latest phone comes with an IPS-LCD panel, while the Camon 18 Premier was fitted with an AMOLED panel. So in term of colour gamut (or colour richness), the earlier phone display is better. Still, talking about the colour gamut and other picture qualities, the IPS-LCD display of the Tecno Camon 19 Pro is still one of the best in this category.
And, in spite of its less colourful display (compared to the AMOLED panel of the earlier model), Camon 19 Pro is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery; which is better than the 4,750mAh battery of the earlier phone. The latest phone is also running on the recent Android 12 OS, and with the recent version of Tecno HiOS custom UI on top.
Camon 19 Pro also includes recent features such as MemFusion. Which enables you to increase the 8GB of RAM of the phone up to 13GB.
Price And Design Colours:
The current price of the Tecno Camon 18 Premier is about 180,000 Naira and it is available in two colour options of Polar Blue and Eco Black.
DESIGN: Camon 19 Pro Looks Exactly Like The Camon 19:
Tecno Camon 19 Pro and standard Camon 19 are identical. Besides sporting an identical 6.8-inch Dot-in displays, both of them also have the same aspect ratio, same shape and almost the same dimension. Both of them also sport the same clear-cut and
all-flat design.
Still, 19 Pro can be distinguished from the regular Camon 19 by two things.
Firstly, the Tecno Camon branding on the back of the Pro model included OIS, but the OIS is missing on the Tecno Camon branding on the regular Camon 19. The lack of OIS means the regular model doesn't support stable video recording.
Secondly, the frame (or the rims around the edges) of the Camon 19 Pro has a glossy finish, while that of the regular Camon has a matte finish.
Still, there is something about the standard Camon 19 that makes the phone to appear a little more appealing than the Pro model.
On the other hand, and as a result of an identical Dot-in display, same aspect ratio and same shape (not size), Camon 19 Pro still look like the earlier Camon 18 Premier. In fact, the only three things that distinguish Camon 19 Pro from the earlier model are its circular camera modules, slightly smaller 6.7-inch screen, and its flatter frame or thinner bezels.
And it's the thinner bezels and circular camera modules that make Camon 19 Pro to look more elegant and prettier than the earlier Camon 18 Premier.
But talking about their build quality, i still prefer the Camon 18 Premier. Though, the latest phone still maintain the glossy frame of the earlier phone, but as i mentioned earlier, the AMOLED screen on the earlier model has been replaced with an IPS-LCD screen. The Dot-in, or camera cut-out, on the lastest phone screen is also bigger than the one on the 18 Premier.
The protective glass material that protect the front and back of the Camon 18 Premier, are also missing on the Camon 19 Pro.
Even, unlike that of the earlier model that has a semi-glossy finish, the back cover of the latest phone also spots a matte finish.
Nonetheless, and except for those changes and modifications, Camon 19 Pro still shares other features with the 18 Premier.
For instance, Tecno Camon 19 Pro also comes with dual microphone, single speaker, side mounted fingerprint reader, USB Type-C port, and 33W fast charging. But, as i said, the 4,750mAh battery of the Camon 18 Premier has been replaced with a 5000mAh battery.
Camon 19 Pro Camera Set-up:
Though compared to the ones taken with the 16-megapixel front camera of the standard Camon 19, selfies from the 32-megapixel front camera of the Camon 19 Pro appear to be less saturated (or less colourful), still the colours look more accurate on the selfies of the Pro phone.
Also as a result of its high megapixel sensor, the front camera of the Camon 19 Pro was a able to take a slightly more detailed pictures than that of the regular Camon 19.
However, the difference in their sharpness are not that glaring. And it's because the shots (selfies) from the regular Camon 19 have a better contrast. Which, in turn, makes the standard phone selfies to appear more clearer (not detail) than those of the Camon 19 Pro.
The videos (like the selfies) from the front camon of the Camon 19 Pro also tend to be on the bright side, when you compared them to those of the Camon 19, but they are still better than the ones from Camon 18 Premier front camera; which had similar brightness level.
And talking about the rear camera. Though, Tecno Camon 19 Pro comes with a 64-megapixel triple rear camera like 18 Premier, but the camera system on the latest phone is a little different.
Firstly, unlike that of the earlier model, the 64-megapixel main rear camera of the Camon 19 Pro has an RGBW sensor, instead of RGGB sensor, i.e., the Green component of the earlier sensor has been replaced with White one in the latest one. Also instead of plastic lens, the latest sensor also features glass lens. All these, according to Tecno, is to ensure a more natural looking and brighter pictures.
But, it should be noted that, the 64-megapixel Main rear camera of the regular Camon 19 has an RGGB sensor and plastic lens.
Truly, the Primary rear camera of the Camon 19 Pro was able take a really good pictures. Though the level of detail, sharpness and clarity remain as that of the Camon 19, yet, the shots from the Pro phone has a better colour reproduction. Also the shorts are moderately bright, as Tecno intended, yet some times the bright areas (of the photos) seem to be a little exposed, but not every time.
Secondly, the earlier phone's Ultrawide-angle camera, which includes Gimbal stabilization (in Ultra-steady Mode), is missing on the Camon 19 Pro. Though the latest phone's 64MP main sensor comes with OIS (Image Stabilization), still, the stability experience is slightly better on the Camon 18 Premier while shooting videos.
Still, like the earlier model, the latest phone also comes with a Telephoto camera; which enables you to Zoom-In and take clearer (or detailed) pictures of far distance objects without moving closer. Even, higher than the 8-megapixel sensor of the earlier one, the latest phone's Telephoto camera has a 50-megapixel sensor.
But while the earlier phone's Telephoto camera features Presicope lens with 5X Optical Zoom-In, the latest phone Telephoto camera has the usual lens, as a result, it features the regular 2x Optical Zoom-In.
The third camera on the back of Camon 19 Pro has a 2-megapixel Depth sensor, which is really common among the recent entry-level android phones. By the way, the Depth sensor is for taking pictures with Bokeh effect or blur background.
Meanwhile, like those of the earlier Camon 18 Premier, both the front and rear cameras of the Camon 19 Pro are capable of shooting 2k videos at 30fps (frame per second). But with Image Stabilization (OIS), the rear camera video is capped at 1080p.
An Attractive 6.8-inch 1080p Display:
As I said earlier, the 6.8-inch display of the Tecno Camon 19 Pro is minute bigger than the 6.7-inch display of the Camon 18 Premier, despite the fact that both of them features similar Dot-in display. The latest phone also has thinner bezels, which implies higher screen-to-body ratio. However, the Dot-in (or camera cut-out) on the latest phone's display is slightly bigger.
Also, because the screen of the Tecno Camon 19 Pro is not fitted with an AMOLED panel like that of the Camon 18 Premier, the screen is not as colourful as that of the earlier model. Even it's not as colourful as those of the recent Infinix Note 12 G96 and Note 12 G88; which also feature AMOLED displays.
in addition to that, No AMOLED panel means no Always ON Display on the Camon 19 Pro, unlike the earlier model.
Still the IPS-LCD screen of the Camon 19 Pro, like that of that of the regular Camon 19, is one of the best in its class.
The IPS-LCD screen of the Camon 19 Pro looks vibrant, clear and bright. Colours also appear rich and well calibrated. And, as a result of its vibrancy and good brightness, the display of the Tecno Camon 19 is usable under direct sunlight.
Yet, in-spite of it vibrancy and vividness, the screen is still easy on the eyes. And it's because the screen is designed to filter Blue LED lights which cause eyes fatigue, especially after prolong reading.
Furthermore, the latest phone retain higher (120hz) screen refresh rate of its the earlier phone. This to ensure smoother page scrolling and better gaming experience.
Also, in spite of its IPS-LCD panel and slightly bigger size, the screen of the Camon 19 Pro is a hair's sharper than that of the Camon 18 Premier. Which is as a result of the latest phone's slightly different Full-HD+ resolution.
In details, while the Full-HD+ resolution of the earlier phone's display is made up 2400-by-1080 pixels (393ppi), the Full-HD+ resolution of the latest phone's display packed a slightly different pixels of 2460-by-1080 (395ppi).
Though, it's obvious the difference in their pixel densities (or sharpness) is negligible.
Though Latest Software, But Same Processing Power And Storage As The Camon 18 Premier:
Despite the fact that Camon 19 Pro is running the Android 12 OS on the same CPU and the same RAM as the Camon 18 Premier, the phone was able to maintain the swiftness of the earlier model. And it's all because the Android OS has been optimized to run this phone's chipset effectively.
Even, Camon 19 Pro was able to run or play many mid-range (even some high ends ones) games at high graphics setting better than the Camon 18 Premier.
Yet, the performance of the latest phone can still be boosted, through MemFusion (RAM expansion).
MemFusion enables you to convert certain amount of your phone internal storage space to Virtual RAM. In other words, and in case of the Camon 19 Pro, MemFusion enables you to convert up to 5GB of free space (out of the phone's inbuilt storage) to RAM. Thereby, allowing you to increase the 8GB of RAM of the phone up to 13GB.
By the way, like that of the earlier model, the 256GB internal storage capacity of the Tecno Camon 19 Pro can still be expanded, via microSD card, up to 1TB (Terabyte).
Bigger Battery, Same Fast Charging:
Compared to the earlier phone's 4,750mAh battery, Tecno Camon 19 comes with a slightly bigger 5000mAh battery. This is quite expected, because the earlier phone's AMOLED screen (which is a little more power efficient) has been replaced with an IPS-LCD screen. Yet the phone retain the 33W fast charging of its predecessor.
And with its out-of-the-box 33W fast charger, it took Camon 19 Pro about about one hour ten minutes to fully charged its battery, when its drops to zero percent.
