Though, Tecno Camon 19 (CI6) is equipped with a less powerful chipset, lower RAM, and lower storage space than the better equipped  Tecno Camon 19 Pro (CI8), yet, this phone looks exactly like the Pro model. And it also features the same display.

And compared to a few others that have similar clear-cut and all-flat appearance, such as Infinix Hot 12, Tecno Spark 9T and Spark 9 Pro, Tecno Camon 19 looks more premium, more elegant, and more classy.

For instance, the bezels (around the screen) of the Camon 19 are more thinner than those of the listed phones. Which enables this phone to have an higher screen-to-body ratio than them. The screen of the Tecno Camon 19 also looks more vibrant, slightly more colourful and clearer.

Apart from its better looks and prettier screen, Tecno Camon 19 also has a better build quality and feels more premium than those phones.

Meanwhile, except for a slight modification, different camera bump, rear camera upgrade, and recent software, Tecno Camon 19 is still the same phone as the Tecno Camon 18.

Starting from its design. Though Tecno Camon 19 sports a slimmer screen bezels, circular camera modules, flatter back cover, and matte finish, yet the phone still has a 6.8-inch hole-punch (Dot-in ) display as the earlier model. And it also maintain the shape, size, and aspect ratio of the earlier phone.

The 6.8-inch Dot-in display of the phone also features the same Full-HD+ or 1080p resolution. This screen also maintain the clarity and vividness of the earlier one. Still, as i mentioned earlier, Tecno Camon 19 display looks slightly more vibrant and a little more colourful.

However, while the earlier phone's screen support 90Hz refresh rate (which brings about smoother page scrolling and animations), the screen of the Camon 19 comes with the regular 60hz refresh rate.

The camera set-up on this phone is also similar to that of the Camon 18. Though the earlier phone's 48-megapixel primary rear camera has been upgraded to 64-megapixel, and the third (Macro) camera has also been replaced with QVGA sensor, but the latest phone still maintain the second (Depth sensing) rear camera of the earlier one. And it also has the same 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The photos taken with the latest phone's cameras also look like those of the earlier one. However, the shots from the Camon 19 looks slightly more saturated.

The processing power and internal storage configuration of the Tecno Camon 19 are also similar to those of the earlier model, but this phone is pre-loaded with the latest software.

Compared to the Android 11 OS that came with its predecessor, Tecno Camon 19 is preloaded with the recent Android 12 OS. And it's also preloaded with the latest version of Tecno HiOS custom UI.

But, despite that the latest phone is also powered by a different CPU, the CPU has the same processing power as the earlier one.

In details, though Tecno Camon 19 is fitted with the Helio G85 CPU, but this CPU has the same processing power as the Helio G88 that came with the earlier model.

Also, like the earlier phone, Tecno Camon 19 has 4GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. Yet, the latest phone is still available in an higher RAM option of 6GB. But the higher RAM is also paired with 128GB internal storage.

Also, unlike the previous phone, the RAM of the latest phone (whether 4GB or 6GB) can be increased through the recent RAM expansion feature called MemFusion. MemFusion enables you to increase 4GB of RAM, for instance, of the Tecno Camon 19 up to 7GB.

Concerning other attributes of the Tecno Camon 19. The only thing that makes a difference is the phone's dual microphone, otherwise, all other features of this phone are still like those of the earlier model. For instance, Tecno Camon 19 retain the single speaker of its predecessor. The phone also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint reader, USB Type-C port, 5000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging, like the Tecno Camon 18.

Verdict:

Except for its better looking display, premium design, better build quality, and higher megapixel main rear camera, every other components of the Tecno Camon 19 (both in and out), including software, are exactly like those of the Tecno Spark 9 Pro.

Even, Infinix Hot 12, that's fitted with a much lower camera system and 720p display, is equipped with the same components and software as the Camon 19.

In other words, the main selling points of the Camon 19 are those few things mentioned above, i.e., the premium looks, better build quality, and stunning display. The question is are those selling points worth extra money, especially in the absence of 90hz screen refresh rate?, i'd say yes, they do.

Price And Design Colours:

The current price of the 4GB/128GB variant of the Tecno Camon 19 is about 127,000 naira. While that of the 6GB/128GB variant is around 151,000 naira. And the phone is available in three different colour options of Eco Black, Sea Salt White, And Digital Blue.

DESIGN: Tecno Camon 19 Maintain Classy Looks Of Its Predecessors:

As a result of a similar size, similar form factor, and an identical 6.8-inch Dot-in display, Tecno Camon 19 shares looks with the earlier Camon 18, especially if you're looking at the latest phone from the front. But, as i mentioned before,the latest phone has a slimmer screen bezels; which cause the phone to look  more sleeker and have an higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor.

Also as i said earlier, Tecno Camon 19 has a better build quality than the Camon 18. Even in inspite of its matte finish, (compared to the glossy finish of the earlier phone), Tecno Camon 19 still looks more premium and attractive, and it also feels good to touch.

Also due to its circular camera modules (which is different from the rectangular one on the earlier model), the back of the Camon 19 looks more premium and classier than that of the Camon 18. In fact, the back of this phone look more premium than those of the Tecno Spark 9T and Spark 9 Pro; which feature similar circular camera modules.

However, the two circular camera modules on the Camon 19 are much bigger than ones on the two phones mentioned above. These modules also protrude more on the back of the Camon 19, thereby preventing the phone from completely lying flat on its back.

Still, these modules contribute majorly to the premium and classy looks of the Camon 19.

By the way, Camon 19 retain the side mounted fingerprint reader of the Camp 18. Which means the latest phone's power button also doubles as a fingerprint reader.

The arrangements of ports and buttons are also similar to those of the earlier phone. In other words, Tecno Camon 19 volume keys and power button (which doubles as a fingerprint reader) are still located on the phone's right edge, while its dual Nano SIM+SD Card slot (and tray) is located on the left edge.

Tecno Camon 19 comes with two microphones. And while, the first or primary one is located on the bottom edge of the phone, alongside the USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, and the phone's single speaker, the secondary microphone is place on the top edge of the phone. Except for that second mic, there is nothing else on the top edge of the Camon 19.

Upgraded Camera System:

Like its predecessor, Tecno Camon 19 has a triple-lens rear camera and a single-lens front camera. Though the 48-megapixel primary rear camera on the earlier model has been upgraded to 64-megapixel, and the second camera (or macro sensor) has also been replaced with a QVGA or AI sensor (which assists the main camera in taking brighter pictures in low-light environments).

Yet, the latest phone retain the 2-megapixel Depth sensor (for taking pictures with Bokeh effect or blur background) of the earlier model. The phone also comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The shots from both the front and rear cameras of the Camon 19 look slightly clearer than the ones from the earlier model, especially the ones from the front camera of the latest phone.

And, compared to the ones from the likes of the Tecno Spark 9 Pro (which has a lower 50-megapixel sensor), the pictures from the rear cameras of the Camon 19 appear saturated (seem to add more colours to the photos). Yet, due to its higher megapixel sensor, these pictures are slightly more detail or sharper than those of the Spark 9 Pro.

The situation is opposite when it comes to their front cameras. Because Inspite of its lower (16-megapixel) sensor, the shots from the front camera of the Camon 19 looks clearer, the skin tone and colours also look better, compared to the shots from the 32-megapixel selfie lens of the Spark 9 Pro.

Meanwhile, like the ones on the earlier Camon 18, both the front and rear cameras of the Camon 19 are capable of shooting 2k videos at 30fps (frame per second). And their is no Image Stabilization (OIS).

Clear And Vivid Screen:

Apart from the looks, another major selling point of the Tecno Camon 19 is its attractive display.

Just like the one on the earlier model, the 6.8-inch display of this phone also has a Full-HD+ or 1080p resolution of 2460x1080 (393ppi). And it also retain the good brightness, clarity and rich colours of the earlier one. Still, the latest screen looks slightly more vibrant and it also seems to be better calibrated, because its white balance is slightly on the warm side.

Also, as a result of its good brightness and vibrancy, the display of the Tecno Camon 19 is usable under direct sunlight. Yet, in-spite of the vibrancy or vividness, the screen of the Camon 19 is easy on the eyes. And it's because the screen is designed to filter Blue LED lights which cause eyes fatigue, especially after prolong reading.

Though, this screen is not as colourful as the AMOLED screen of the Infinix Note 12 or Infinix Note 12 G96, at least, it's slightly better than the ones on the Infinix Hot 12, Tecno Spark 9 Pro and Spark 9T, especially when it comes to the brightness level and picture vibrancy.

To me, the only Con of the Camon 19 screen is its lack of support for 90hz refresh rate; which was present in the earlier model.

Except For The Recent Software, The Processing Power And Storage Still Remain As Those Of The Earlier Models:

While the earlier Camon 18, and the prior Camon 17, were pre-installed with Android 11 OS (Operating System), Camon 19 is pre-installed with the recent Android 12 OS. The phone is also pre-installed with the latest version (8.6) of the Tecno HiOS 8.6 custom UI.

But, Tecno Camon 19 retain the 4GB of RAM (there is also 6GB option) of the earlier phones, and it also has the same processing power.

Though the latest phone is powered by the Helio G85 CPU, which is different from the Helio G88 CPU that came with the Camon 18. Unfortunately, both the Helio G88 and Helio G85 have the same processing power. Let's not even forget that it's the same Helio G85 CPU that came with the older Camon 17.

Yet, despite running the recent software on the same chipset that came with the earlier models, Tecno Camon 19 still maintain the smooth performance of the earlier phones, thanks to its highly optimized software and the MemFusion.

MemFusion enables you to convert certain amount of your phone internal storage space to Virtual RAM. In other words, and in case of the Camon 19, MemFusion enables you to convert up to 3GB of free space (out of the phone's inbuilt storage) to RAM. Thereby, allowing you to increase the 4GB of RAM of the phone up to 7GB.

By the way, like those of its predecessors, the 128GB internal storage capacity of the Tecno Camon 19 can also be expanded, via microSD card, up to 256GB.

Same 5000mAh Battery, Same USB Type-C port And Same 18W Fast Charging:

As i mentioned before, Tecno Camon 19 retain the 5000mAh battery and USB Type-C port of the Camon 18. The phone also retain the 18W fast charging of the earlier phone.

However, and despite having the same 18W fast charger, It took Camon 19 lesser time of about one hour fourty five minutes to fully charged its battery (with the phone's out-of-the-box 18W charger) when its drops to zero percent, while it took the earlier phone over two hours to full charged its battery, with a similar 18W fast charger.
