iPhone 13 Price, Review And Specifications.
Firstly, iPhone 13 sports a smaller screen-notch and its two rear cameras are also arranged in a diagonal manner. Not only that, the two rear cameras are slightly larger than those on the the earlier model. This because Apple implemented the dual back camera of the last year's iPhone 12 Pro Max on the iPhone 13.
Like on the outside, a few upgrades have also taken place under the hood of the iPhone 13. The phone comes with the latest Apple's in-house A15 Bionic processor and the latest iOS 15. Also instead of 64GB, the base storage of the latest iPhone is now 128GB. However, the phone still has the same amount of RAM as the earlier model. In other words, and like its predecessor, iPhone 13 features 4GB of RAM; but the RAM is now paired with either 128GB, 256GB or 512GB storage.
Furthermore, the battery life of the iPhone 13 is over two and half hours longer than that of the iPhone 12. And it's because the latest iPhone is fitted with a 3,240mAh battery; which is slightly bigger than the 2,815mAh battery that's inside iPhone 12. iPhone 13 also covers more 5G networks than the iPhone 12
Same Looks, Yet A few Modifications; More On The iPhone 13 Design:
Provided you're looking at both from the fronts, the first thing you'll notice about the iPhone 13 (when you compared to iPhone 12), is it's slightly smaller screen-notch. In fact, Apple says the screen-notch of the iPhone 13 is twenty per cent smaller than that of the iPhone 12. Also, and despite the fact that the screen-notch still houses the TrueDepth camera, microphone and speaker, all of them have been slightly rearranged inside the notch.
And if you turn it over, you'll quickly notice that the arrangement of the back cameras on the iPhone 13 is quite different from those on the iPhone 12. Though the phone still has a dual-lens back camera and a squared-shaped camera module like the iPhone 12, but unlike those of the iPhone 12 that are vertically stacked, the two cameras on the iPhone 13 are diagonally arranged.
However, as i said earlier, other visible differences between the iPhones are not glaring. For instance, the Volume rockers and Ring (or Silence) button on the left edge of the iPhone 13 has been moved downwards a little, so also the Side (or Power) button on the right edge. And despite having the same camera module as the iPhone 12, the one the iPhone 13 is slightly thicker, and the two diagonally arranged rear sensors are also slightly larger than those on the iPhone 12. This also implies that the casing of the iPhone 12 won't be able to fit iPhone 13.
Still, other visible attributes of the iPhone 13 are like those like those of the iPhone 12. Apart from retaining the looks, the 6.1-inch display and the 12-megapixels front-camera of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 also has the same build quality as the earlier iPhone. The front of the phone is also protected by Ceramic Shield (introduced in iPhone 12) and its back by glass. Also like its predecessor, iPhone 13 is IP68 water resistance certified. Which means it can withstand submersion up to 30 minutes, inside water of about 6 metre or 20 feet deep. Furthermore, the phone also retain the flat edge which apple also introduced in the earlier model. And close to the 146.7x71.5x7.4mm dimensions of iPhone 12, iPhone 13 has dimensions of 147x72x7.65mm.
However, compared to the 164g (5.78 oz) weight of iPhone 12, iPhone 13 has a little heavier weight of 174g (6.14 oz), perhaps this is due to the latest iPhone slightly bigger battery.
Same Display Yet Increased Brightness And Shorter Notch:
Apart from having the same 6.1-inch size, the display of the iPhone 13 also features Super Retina XDR OLED panel like that of the iPhone 12. The screen also retain the 60Hz refresh rate and the same 2532x1170 resolution. Which means the screen has the same pixel density (or sharpness) of 460ppi.
Nonetheless, the smaller notch on the iPhone 13 enables its display to gain a little more screen real-estate than that of the iPhone 12. Apart from that, this screen also offers an higher level of brightness than the one on the earlier phone. Though with its over 600nits brightness, iPhone 12 screen is already bright enough to cope with most of the bright light conditions, yet iPhone 13's screen still offers an higher brightness level of about 800nits. Which means in direct sunlight, iPhone 13 display will do a better job than that of the iPhone 12. For HDR contents, the brightness of the iPhone 13 display still peaked at 1200nits, like that of the iPhone 12.
Upgraded Rear Cameras And New Features, Yet Same Front Camera:
Though iPhone 13 comes with a single lens front camera and a dual-lens back camera like the iPhone 12. And the TrueDepth front camera of the phone also retain the 12-megapixel sensor that accompanied iPhone 12. But instead of maintaining the two rear sensors of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 comes with the two rear sensors of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. In other words, and despite that each of the dual back camera of the iPhone 13 is also made up of a 12-megapixel Wide angle (or regular) sensor and a 12-megapixel Ultra-wide angle sensor like those on the iPhone 12, the sensors on the latest iPhone are slightly larger.
And the larger sensors; which let in more light (about 47 per cent), combined with Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization, enable the pictures taken with the iPhone 13 cameras to have a slightly better image quality than the ones taken with the iPhone 12 cameras. It also gives you opportunity to take pictures quickly and allows you to shoot a more stable video than those of the iPhone 12. Furthermore, it enables the Night Mode's pictures of the iPhone 13 to look slightly clearer (and less blurry) than those of the iPhone 12.
Also, unlike that of the iPhone 12 that's capped at 30fps (frame per second), the 4K Dolby Vision video recording on the iPhone 13 support 60fps.
iPhone 13 also includes new features like Cinematic Mode and Photographics Style. The Photographics Style simply enables you to edit the picture properties of the photo you are about to take, or in Real-time, before you eventually take the picture. And the Cinematic Mode is like using Portrait Mode for your video recording. While blurring the background or foreground of your video, this mode automatically shift the focus, to and fro, between the subject on the background and the one on the foreground. And these modes are supported by both the front and back cameras of the latest iPhone. And if you don't like how these features work, you can disable them.
Furthermore, despite the fact that the front camera system remain unchanged, the shots taken with the iPhone 13 TrueDepth or front-facing camera looks slightly better than ones taken with that of the iPhone 12. Perhaps, it's due to the A15 Bionic chipset combined with improved image enhancement features such as Smart HDR 4 (the latest version of the Smart HDR 3 on the iPhone 12); which intuitively adjust and enhances the picture settings, based on the scenes (landscape or sky), for better results.
Note: When you compared most of the shots from the iPhone 13 to those of the iPhone 12, you'll discover that the differences (between them) are not that glaring. In fact, you really need to pay attention to details to notice these differences.
PROCESSING POWER:
Compared to A14 Bionic CPU that's inside iPhone 12, iPhone 13 is powered by the latest A15 Bionic. Though A15 Bionic is also a 5nm chipset, with 6-Core CPU and 4-Core GPU like the A14. However, the processing speeds of the latest CPU clocked at 3.23GHz; which is slightly higher than the 2.99GHz of the earlier CPU. According to the Apple, and technically speaking, A15 Bionic CPU is 15 per cent faster than the A14 Bionic. The GPU of the chipset is also about 12 per cent faster.
However, for day to day usage and average user, it's hard to notice the difference in the speeds of both CPUs, except you are coming from the iPhone 11 or older iPhones. Nonetheless, when it comes to high-end games and other graphics demanding tasks, A15 Bionic offers slightly smoother performance and it's a little more power efficient than the 14 Bionic.
And while the earlier phone was pre-installed with iOS 14, iPhone 13 comes with the latest iOS 15 software. Although, as usual, iPhone 12 and prior models can be updated to the latest iOS.
Improved Battery Life:
When you compared it to the iPhone 11, it should be recalled that one of the Cons of the iPhoine 12 is its not-so-impressive battery life. Though i'm not sure if the battery life of the iPhone 13 is as good as that of the iPhone 11, but it's surely better than that of the iPhone 12. Because compared to the 2,815mAh battery of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 is equipped with a slightly stronger 3,240mAh battery. Which enables the phone to gain extra two and half hours than the the iPhone 12.
Introduced in iPhone 12, MagSafe also return to the back of the iPhone 13. MagSafe (which is made up of a ring of magnets underneath the glass back of the iPhone) enables you to firmly attach MagSafe charger, iPhone wallets and other wireless devices to the back of your iPhone.
Also like its predecessor, iPhone 13 comes with only USB-C to lightning cable (out-of-the-box). In other words, Apple doesn't include either of its charger or EarPods in the box of the iPhone 13. Therefore, and provided you don't have one lies around, you'll have to buy a USB-C adapter, or better still an iPhone charger, for your new iPhone 13.
The latest iPhone also retain the 20W fast charging of its predecessor; which means when the phone's battery drops to one per cent, it can juiced back, up to 50 percent, within 30 minutes. But with MagSafe charger, it'll take a longer time of about one hour before the battery can reach the same 50 percent, because this charger outputs in 15W.

Because iPhone 13 comes in the body (size and looks) of the iPhone 12, at a glance, the phone seems to look exactly like its predecessor. However, the more you pay attention, the more you'll start to notice a few differences between the two iPhones.
