Infinix Note 8i (X683) was introduced alongside Infinix Note 8 (X692), and it has the same design as the Note 8. But compared to the 6.95-inch display of the Note 8 and dual front camera, Infinix Note 8i sports a slightly less bigger display of 6.78-inch and a single-lens front camera.
The single-lens front camera of the Note 8i also has an 8MP sensor, which is lower than the 16MP dual front camera of the Note 8. And despite that Note 8i also features Quad-lens back camera like the bigger Note, the primary rear camera of the Note 8i is fitted with a lower 48MP sensor, compared to the 64MP main rear camera of the Note 8.
However, apart from their different screen size and slightly different camera setups, as mentioned above, there is no other major physical difference between Infinix Note 8i and Infinix Note 8.
For instance, the power button of this phone, like that of the Note 8, also doubled as fingerprint reader. This phone also comes with a USB Type-C port and support 18W quick charging. However, Infinix Note 8i doesn't come with 18W quick charger like the Note 8.
Under the hood also, Infinix Note 8i is fitted with the same Helio G80 MediaTek chipset that came with the Infinix Note 8. But, compared to the Note 8 6GB of RAM, Note 8i is fitted with 4GB of RAM.
Also, unlike the earlier phone that's available in single variant, Infinix Note 8i is available in 2 variants. Though both variants feature 4GB of RAM, but, while the first one is fitted with 64GB internal storage, the other one is fitted with twice internal storage space of 128GB, like the Infinix Note 8.
Also like the Note 8, Infinix Note 8i is running on the Android 10 OS with Infinix XOS 7.0 on top.
Infinix Note 8i Price And Colours:
The price of the 4GB/64GB variant of the Infinix Note 8i is currently about 73,000 Naira (Ksh 15,999) while that of the 4GB/128GB variant is around 84,000 (Ksh 17,400). And the phone is available in three colour options of Ice Diamond, Tranquil Blue and Obsidian Black.
Slightly Smaller Display, Single Front camera, But Same Looks As The Note 8:
Except for its slightly smaller size and single-lens front camera, Infinix Note 8i retained all the other visible attributes of the Note 8.
For instance, the Infinity-O display of the Note 8i also features 20.5:9 aspect ratio like that of the Note 8. The display also has an IPS-LCD panel and packed the same HD+ resolution of 1640x720. Due to its smaller size, however, the screen of the Infinix Note 8i has a slightly higher pixel density of 264ppi, compared to the 258ppi of the Note 8's display.
Though the back covers and chassis of both phones are made of plastic, yet, the back cover of the Infinix Note 8i looks prettier because it has a diamond-shaped patterns. Still, the shape of the camera bump on the Note 8i's and the arrangement of quad-camera inside the bump, look exactly like those of the Note 8.
The positions of ports and buttons, on this phone, are also similar to those of the Infinix Note 8. Therefore, you have volume rockers and power button (which also serves as a fingerprint reader) on the right edge of the Infinix Note 8i, while the phone's 3-in-1 SIM slot (and tray) is located on its left edge. There is nothing on the top edge of the phone, because you have 3.5mm audio jack, microphone, USB Type-C port and the single speaker of the phone on the bottom edge.
Same CPU And OS As The Note 8 But Smaller RAM:
Infinix Note 8i is powered by the Helio G80; a midrange yet powerful gaming chipset from the MediaTek. Helio G80 is a 12nm Cortex-A75 Octa core processor. And it has clock speeds of up 2.0GHz. And for its Graphics Processing Unit, this chipset is fitted with the Mali-G52 EEC MC2; which has gpu clock speeds of up to 800MHz.
Infinix Note 8i is also running on the Android 10 OS (Operating System) with Infinix XOS 7.0 (Custom UI) on top of it, just like Note 8. However, despite having the same software and almost the same hardware as the Note 8, Infinix Note 8i comes with a single bottom-firing speaker, unlike the bigger Note; which is fitted with DTS-powered stereo speakers.
As i mentioned earlier, both variants of the Infinix Note 8i are fitted with 4GB of RAMs. And while the first variant comes with 64GB storage, the other variant is equipped with twice storage space of 128GB. And that's the only difference between the two variants of the Infinix Note 8i. Meanwhile, the internal storage capacities of both variants of the Note 8i are expandable, via microSD card, up to 512GB.
48MP Quad Back Camera And An 8MP Front Camera:
Though, the 48MP primary back camera of the Note 8i is lower than the 64MP primary back camera of the Note 8, still, the other three rear cameras on the Note 8i, and their numbers of megapixels, are exactly like those of the bigger Note phone.
Therefore, the quad back camera of the Note 8i is made up of a 48MP primary lens (for taking portrait shots), a 2MP Depth sensing lens (for taking pictures with Bokeh effects or blurred background), a 2MP Macro lens (for taking detailed pictures of close-up objects) and a 2MP AI or QVGA lens (for taking clearer and brighter low-light pictures).
And despite that Infinix Note 8i has a single lens 8MP front camera (compared to the 16MP dual selfie-lens of the Note 8), still, both the front and back cameras of Note 8i are also capable of shooting 720p, 1080p and 2K videos at 30fps (frames per second), just like those on the bigger Note phone.
Also like that of the Note 8, the quad-lens back camera of the Note 8i is also capable of shooting Slow Motion videos at 240fps.
Same 5200mAh Battery, USB-C Port And 18W Quick Charging As Note 8:
Infinix Note 8i retain the 5200mAh battery of the Note 8. The phone also comes with USB-C port and support 18W Quick charging like the Note 8. However, unlike the bigger phone that comes with an 18W Quick charger (out-of-the-box), Infinix Note 8i comes with a regular 10W charger. Therefore, it'll take you about four hours to fully charge the phone's battery (from zero per cent) with the 10W charger.
