Otherwise known as Infinity-O display, Infinix Hot 9 features a punch-hole screen, quad-lens back camera and a rectangular shaped back camera module. But those are the three main things that differentiate Infinix Hot 9's design from that of the Infinix Hot 8.
Because the latest phone sport the same 6.6-inch screen size, same HD+ resolution and the same 20:9 aspect ratio as the earlier model. Infinix Hot 9 also comes with the same 8MP front facing camera.
In fact, the Main back camera of the 2GB/32GB variant of the Infinix Hot 9 also features 13MP lens like that of the Hot 8, despite the fact that the latest model is mounted with a quad-lens camera.
Under the hood, Infinix Hot 9 is powered by the recent and better Helio A25 chipset and it's running on the latest Android 10 (Q) alongside Infinix XOS 6.0 custom UI. Yet, the phone is fitted with the same 5000mAh battery capacity as the Hot 8.
Meanwhile, Infinix Hot 9 comes in various colour options of Quetzal Cyan, Midnight Black, Violet and Ocean Wave.
Presently, the price of the 2GB/32GB variant of the Hot 9 is around 53,000 Naira (GHs.688 & KES.12,999), while that of the 3GB/64GB variant is around 60,000 Naira (GHs.718 & KES.13,999).
Different Versions Of The Hot 9:
Specifically, Infinix Hot 9 comes in three Main versions, and these are; Infinix Hot 9 Play, Infinix Hot 9 and Infinix Hot 9 Pro.
Infnix Hot 9 Play is the least expensive one, yet the biggest of all the three versions. It features a bigger 6.82-inch Drop-notch display and stronger 6000mAh battery, but it is mounted with a dual-lens back camera. The chipset, RAM and storage configurations of this version of the Hot 9 varies from region to region, but for our own market, it's currently available in 2GB/32GB variant with Helio A22 cpu.
The next version of Hot 9 is the standard Infinix Hot 9; which is the focus of this write-up. Infinix Hot 9 is available in two variants of X655 and X655C, and it comes in various RAMs and internal storage configurations.
The third and the last version of the Infinix Hot 9 is the recently unveiled Infinix Hot 9 Pro. Though Hot 9 Pro features the same 6.6-inch Infinity-O display and quad-lens back camera as the standard Infinix Hot 9, yet, it has an higher 48MP Main rear lens and better 16MP front facing camera. This version is also equipped with older but slightly better Helio P22 chipset.
Infinix Hot 9 (standard) Continues...
Like i said earlier, Infinix Hot 9 comes in two variants i.e., X655 and X655C. And both of them have almost everything in common, except for their different Main back cameras, RAMs and internal storage configurations.
While the X655, the base model of the Infinix Hot 9, has 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage and 13MP Quad-lens back camera. Infinix Hot 9 X655C, on the other hand, comes with a slightly better 16MP Quad back camera with higher configurations of either 3GB/64GB or 4GB/128GB.
Infinix Hot 9 Design:
Irrespective of the variant, Infinix Hot 9 measures 165.4x76.8x8.8mm and weighs 185g, which means the latest phone has almost the same form factor as the Infinix Hot 8, in addition to their identical screen size.
But it also shows that the latest Hot phone is a little heavier and minute thicker than the previous model; which has a weight of 179g and thickness of 8.7mm. Nonetheless, due to its Infinity-O display, quad-lens rear camera and rectangular shape camera module, Infinix Hot 9 wear a better or prettier look.
Though, Infinix Hot 9 design might have looked refreshing and trendier, compared to that of the Hot 8, yet, a few other recent smartphones such as the Tecno Camon 15 and Tecno Spark 5 also feature the exact design. These phones also have similar form factors, camera modules and same screen size as the Infinix Hot 9.
Meanwhile, like that of the Hot 8, the frame and back cover of the Hot 9 are also made of plastic, though the back of the latest phone looks more premium as a result of its design pattern. Furthermore, the four back cameras of the latest phone are found on the left side of the rectangular shaped camera module, and they are arranged in a vertical manner. While the triple LED-flash is placed on the left side of the module.
Still, despite its increased number of rear cameras, triple-LED flash and different camera enclosure, the rear-mounted fingerprint reader of the Hot 9 is still placed in the same spot as that of the Infinix Hot 8 i.e., at the top centre back. And the latest phone's buttons and ports are also located at the similar spots.
Infinix Hot 9 Display And Cameras:
Though the 6.6-inch display of the Infinix Hot 9 comes with a hole-punch, unlike that of its predecessor that features Waterdrop notch, yet, the latest phone's screen packed the same 1600x720 pixels and has approximately the same 265ppi pixel density. Which means both of the latest and previous phones' displays have the same sharpness.
4 Back cameras But same 8MP Front Camera:
Better than the Triple back camera that came with the Infinix Hot 8, both variants of the Infinix Hot 9 are mounted with Quad back cameras. Yet, the back camera set-up of the base variant i.e., X655, is still similar to that of the Hot 8.
In other words, Infinix Hot 9 X655 still has the same 13MP Main lens, same 2MP Depth sensing lens and the same QVGA lens as the Hot 8, while the remaining 2MP or fourth lens on the back of the Hot 9 is referred to as Macro camera.
On the other hand, the quad back camera of the second variant of the Infinix Hot 9 i.e., X655C, comes with an higher 16MP Main lens, but this variant still has the same 2MP Depth sensing lens, same 2MP Macro lens and the same QVGA lens like the base variant.
Meanwhile, Infinix Mobility returns the same 8MP front facing camera of the Infinix Hot 8 to both variants of the Infinix Hot 9. Still, the phone also lack Notification LED like the Hot 8, but it has charging indicator and features Face Unlock as the earlier model.
Better Processing Power, Audio And Software:
Infinix Hot 9 is powered by the MediaTek Helio A25 chipset. Helio A25 is a recently introduced 12nm, Arm Cortex-A53 octa-core processor. And it has clock speed of up to 1.8GHz.
Obviously, Helio A25 is better than the Helio A22 (which is a quad-core chipset) that came with the Hot 8.
Aside its better processing power, Infinix Hot 9 is also equipped with DTS sound engine, which is also better than the DIRAC audio of the earlier model. Nonetheless, the latest phone is still fitted with the same IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) as the earlier model.
And concerning its software, Infinix Hot 9 is running on the Infinix XOS 6.0.1v custom UI built on top of the Android 10 Q. And the internal storage capacity of the Hot 9 can be expanded, through micro-SD card, of up to 256GB.
Same 5000mAh Battery:
Infinix Hot 9 is fitted with the same 5000mAh battery as the Hot 8. The latest phone also comes with the Battery Lab power management; which enables your new phone to last for a couple of days on a single charging.
Still, like its predecessor, Infinix Hot 9 doesn't support fast charging, therefore, it might take you over three hours to fully charge the phone from zero percent.
