The two of them are also powered by the Qualcomm SD665 chipset and they're running on the Android 10 OS. The duo of the Moto G8 and Moto G Fast are also equipped with sufficient 4000mAh batteries.
Out of the two phones, however, Moto G8 offers an higher RAM of 4GB and better 64GB internal storage capacity, compared to the 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage of the Moto G Fast.
Meanwhile, apart from their RAMs and ROMs, there is no other noticeable difference between the Moto G8 and G Fast, because the two phones have the same features and identical designs.
The current price of the Moto G8, which was released over a couple months ago, is £179, while the official price of the newly introduced Moto G Fast is $199.99. Also, while the Moto G8 comes in two colour options of Pearl White and Pearl Blue, Moto G Fast comes in only one colour of Pearl White.
Same Design, Same Screen Size And Same 720p Pixels:
Except you look at them closely or choose the Pearl Blue colour option (only in Moto G8), you can't easily spot the differences between the Moto G8 and Moto G Fast, because the two of them look almost identical.
In details, the two of them have an identical 6.4-inch hole-punch displays, and the same 19:9 aspect ratios. Both of their screens also feature the same HD+ resolutions of 1560 by 720 pixels, which makes the two of them to have the same pixel density of 268ppi.
Their Backs Look Almost Identical:
Though, the arrangements and positioning of each of the phone's rear mounted cameras and fingerprint readers are similar, yet, Moto G8 has a total number of four lenses while the Moto G Fast is equipped with triple-lens.
In other words, Motorola replaces the 4th lens or Laser AF lens (found on the back of the Moto G8) with LED flash on the back of Moto G Fast.
By the way, the LED flash of the Moto G8 is placed outside the Main camera module.
Other Aspects Remain The Same:
The ports and buttons of the Moto G8 and Moto G Fast are found in similar positions. Each of the phones 3-in-1 (Hybrid) SIM tray can also be located on their left edges.
Both Moto G8 and Moto G Fast have almost the same dimensions of 161.27x75.8x8.95mm and 161.87x75.7x9.05mm respectively. Both of the phones also have almost the same weight, because Moto G Fast weigh 189.4g which is almost the same as the 188.3g weight of Moto G8.
Unlike the Moto G8, however, Moto G Fast is IP52 (water and dust resistance) certified, which means the latest phone is protected against light rain and splash.
Same Processing Power, Yet Moto G8 Offers Slightly Higher RAM & 2x Storage.
Both Motorola Moto G8 and Moto G Fast are running on the Android 10 Operating System (O.S.), and they are also powered by the same Qualcomm SD665 cpu. SD665 is an 11nm octa-core processor with the clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz, and it is also equipped with the Adreno 610 GPU.
And while Moto G Fast is fitted with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage capacity, Moto G8 offers a slightly higher 4GB of RAM and twice storage space of 64GB. Nonetheless, each of the phone's internal storage capacity can be expanded, through microSD card of up to 512GB capacity.
Same Camera Sensors And Megapixels:
Apart from the Moto G8's extra rear lens or Laser Auto Focus (AF) lens, each of the phones rear camera sensors and their megapixels are exactly like those of the other. In other words, each of the Moto G8 and Moto G Fast is equipped with 16MP Main sensor, 8MP Ultrawide angle sensor (118-degree FoV) and 2MP Macro sensor.
Each of the phones also features 8MP front camera, embedded in the cutout holes; located on the top left corner of their displays.
Meanwhile, the back cameras of both phones have ability to shoot videos in 4k at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps. The Selfie camera can shoot videos in 1080p at 30fps.
Same Battery Capacities:
Both are also fitted with the same 4000mAh batteries, also and in spite of their bigger displays, the lower HD+ resolutions of these screens will also have positive effects on their batteries. Meanwhile, both of them feature Usb-C ports and they also support 10W rapid charging. Both of the Moto G8 and Moto G Fast also come with 10W rapid Chargers; found in their respective boxes.
