Camon 15 is the newly unveiled mid-range smartphone from the Tecno Mobile. It is also the latest model of the Tecno Camon series, and the successor to the last year's Camon 12.
Though Tecno Camon 15 shares basic internal components, such as processor, RAM and storage capacity with its predecessor, yet, it doesn't look like the earlier model.
Instead it shares looks with the entry-level variant of its predecessor called Camon 12 Air.
But despite their identical look, Tecno Camon 15 is equipped with a better specs and it also looks more premium than the Camon 12 Air.
Interestingly, Tecno Camon 15 shares design, specs and premium look with the S5, which is another mid-range smartphone from the Infinix Mobility. Though Infinix S5 has been around since late last year.
Like the Infinix S5, Camon 15 features 6.6-inch Display (with hole-punch), Helio P22 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage capacity and quad-lens rear camera. But while the Tecno phone offers a better Quad-lens back camera and bigger 5000mAh battery, Infinix S5 offers a better 32MP front camera (compared to the 16MP selfie lens of the Camon 15).
Same Design, But Camon 15 Has Trendy Back Camera Module:
Both Tecno Camon 15 and Infinix S5 have an identical design, both of them also feature 6.6-inch screens and 20:9 aspect ratios.
The two of them also have their front cameras embedded inside small cut-holes; located at the top left corner of their displays. And due to the presence of these cut-out holes, the 6.6-inch screen of the Tecno Camon 15 is referred to as the Dot-in Display, while the Infinix Mobility calls the 6.6-inch screen of the S5 Infinity-O Display.
Furthermore, Tecno Camon 15 also has a plastic frame and polycarbonate backing like the Infinix S5. And these two phones' volume rockers, power buttons, microUSB ports, SIM slots and so on, are also arranged in a similar manner.
Though Tecno Camon 15 also features gradient backing with fine lines like that of the Infinix S5, yet, the back of the Camon phone looks more premium and appealing than that of the S5, and this has to do with its rectangular shape back camera bump.
Also implemented in the recent Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, Tecno Camon 15 features rectangular-shape back camera module. And the four back cameras of the Camon phone are arranged in a vertical manner on the left side of the camera module, while the quad-flash is found on the right side.
Price, Colours, Thickness And Weight:
May be this is due to its higher battery capacity, but compared to the 178g weight of the Infinix S5, Tecno Camon 15 comes with an heavier weight of 196g. Also, as a result of its 8.75mm thickness, the new Camon phone is also thicker than the Infinix S5; which has a thickness of 7.9mm.
Meanwhile, Tecno Camon 15 comes in three colour options of Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple and Dark Jade, while the Infinix S5 also comes in three but different colour options of Violet, Quetzal Cyan and Midnight Black.
And despite that Tecno just introduced Camon 15 to the market, while the Infinix S5 has been around since last year's November. Still, the price of the Tecno Camon 15 is 64,000 Naira; which is slightly lower than the 70,500 naira of the Infinix S5.
Both Have The Same Processing Power, But Camon 15 Offers Latest OS:
Like the Infinix S5, Tecno Camon 15 is also powered by the Helio P22 (MT6762) MediaTek chipset, an octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz. Which also means that the latest Tecno Camon 15 also comes with PowerVR GE8320 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
Nonetheless, while the Infinix S5 is running on the Android 9 Pie O.S. (Operating System) alongside Infinix XOS 5.5., Tecno Camon 15, on the other hand, is pre-loaded with the latest Android 10 (Q) O.S. and Tecno's HiOS 6.0.1 custom UI.
The RAM and internal storage configurations of the latest phone are also similar to those of the Infinix S5. In other words, Tecno Camon 15 also feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage space like the Infinix S5. And like earlier Infinix phone, the internal storage capacity of th Tecno Camon 15 can also be expanded, through MicroSD card, up to 128GB.
Same 6.6-inch HD+ IPS-LCD Display:
Like i mentioned earlier, Tecno Camon 15 also features 6.6-inch display and 20:9 aspect ratio like the Infinix S5. The Tecno phone's display is also fitted with an IPS-LCD panel and it has the same HD+ (1600x720) resolution. Which also means that both of their displays have the same pixel density of 267ppi. In other words, both displays have the same screen sharpness.
While Camon 15 Has Better Back Camera, Infinix S5 Offers A Better Selfie Camera:
Like the Infinix S5, Tecno Camon 15 also features quad-lens back camera, and both of their quad-lens back cameras consist of almost the same number of megapixels, except for their Main back camera lenses.
While the Infinix S5 features 16MP Main lens, 5MP Ultra-wide lens, 2MP Depth sensing lens and a QVGA lens, on the other hand, Tecno equipped Camon 15 with a much higher 48MP Main lens, but!, with the same 5MP Ultra-wide lens and the same 2MP depth sensing lens like those of the Infinix S5. It should be noted that while the Infinix didn't disclose the megapixels of the QVGA lens, or 4th camera on the back of the S5, that of the Tecno Camon 15 is 2MP.
Although Tecno Camon 15 has a better Quad-lens rear camera, Infinix S5 offers a better front camera. Because the earlier Infinix phone featured a 32-MP Selfie camera, while Tecno equipped the latest Camon 15 with a 16-MP front camera.
Camon 15 Features An Higher 5000mAh Battery:
Though, both phones feature more than enough battery capacities, yet, that of the Tecno Camon phone is much higher. Because Camon 15 comes with a 5000mAh battery, while the Infinix S5 has a little lower 4000mAh battery; which, like i said earlier, is more than enough for normal usage.

Meanwhile, because none of these phones support fast charging, it might take you about 2hrs 45mins to charge Infinix S5 from 0 to 100 per cent. And it might take you over 3 hours to fully charge Camon 15 from 0 per cent, because of its higher battery capacity.
