Tecno Mobile has unveiled another model of its Camon phone series and it's called Camon 15. Tecno Camon 15 is also the successor to the last year's Tecno Camon 12. And like the Camon 12, Camon 15 also comes in different variants, namely; Camon 15 Air, Camon 15, Camon 15 Pro, and Camon 15 Premier.
Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 15 Air come with the same look, specs and features, in fact, the difference between the two phones lies in their RAM sizes. Because, while the Camon 15 comes with 4GB of RAM, Camon 15 Air is fitted with a slightly lower 3GB of RAM.
On the other hand, The better equipped Camon 15 Pro's design and specs are quite different from those of the Camon 15 and Camon 15 Air, above. Instead, this Pro version of the latest Camon 15 shares everything (looks and specs) with the Camon 15 Premier. Still, and despite having everything in common, the Quad-lens back cameras of the two phones are made up of slightly different megapixels.
For instance, while Tecno Camon 15 Pro Main back camera is fitted with 48-MP lens, that of the Camon 15 Premier comes with 64-MP lens.
NOTE: Unlike their predecessor, i.e., Tecno Camon 12 Pro, the latest Camon 15 Pro and Camon 15 Premier do not have AMOLED displays and In-display fingerprint sensors.
Meanwhile, this quick review focuses on the Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 15 Pro, because of their various differences.
Tecno Camon 15 and Tecno Camon 15 Pro:
Although, both of them comes with Quad-lens back cameras, when it comes to the camera details and other areas of their specifications such as designs, screen sizes, RAMs and so on, both Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 15 Pro are quite different from each other. For instance, Tecno Camon 15 Pro has a 6.6-inch display with motorized pop-up selfie camera. Though Tecno Camon 15, on the other hand, also comes with a 6.6-inch display, but instead of having pop-up camera like the Pro variant, it features a punch-hole; which houses the phone's selfie camera.
Camon 15 Shares Design With Camon 12 Air, While the Camon 15 Pro Has A Distinct Look:
Tecno Camon 15 looks exactly like the last year's Camon 12 Air. In fact, because of its better internal components, Tecno Camon 15 can be regarded as the upgraded version of the late last year's budget-phone.
For instance Tecno Camon 15 features the same 6.6-inch Dot-in, HD+ Display and the same 20:9 aspect ratio like the Camon 12 Air. The new phone's fingerprint reader, volume rockers and power button positions are also similar to those of the Camon 12 Air. Tecno Camon 15 also has plastic frame, but, compare to plastic backing of the Camon 12 Air, the latest Camon 15 comes with gradient backing that features fine lines.
The obvious difference between the Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 12 Air design is the shape of their back camera bumps. The latest Camon 15 comes with the trendy, rectangular-shape camera bump which looks like the one the recent Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. And the four cameras of the latest phone are arranged vertically on the left side of the bump, while the Quad LED-flash are placed on the right side of the bump.
Though Camon 15 shares look with the Camon 12 Air, but specs-wise and design, Tecno Camon 15 is exact replica of the Infinix S5.

Meanwhile, compare to that of the Tecno Camon 15, Tecno Camon 15 Pro comes with a FullView display. FullView in the sense that Tecno Camon 15 Pro display neither have a screen-notch nor hole-punch (like the Camon 15) to house its selfie camera. Instead, Tecno Camon 15 Pro features a motorized, pop-up front camera which houses the phone's 32-MP selfie lens. The pop-up camera comes out whenever you want to take selfies or face unlock your phone. And you can also disable it in the settings menu.
Furthermore, compared to the 20:9 aspect ratio of the Tecno Camon 15, Tecno Camon 15 Pro has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9; which makes the phone's display to appear slightly wider than that of the Camon 15. The frame of the Tecno Camon 15 Pro is also made of plastic like that of the Camon 15, but the backing of the Pro phone is made of polycarbonate (glass-like material).
Although, the backing of the Camon 15 Pro is flat, the long camera bump, which houses its vertically arranged quad-lens camera, is intrusive, compared to those of the other smartphones, like the Huawei Y9 Prime, that also implemented motorized pop-up Selfie cameras.
Also, due to the overstretched back camera bump, the fingerprint reader of the Tecno Camon 15 Pro is close to the phone's centre back than the top.
Like the Camon 15, Tecno Camon 15 Pro volume rockers and power button are also placed on its right edge. The phone also features micro-USB port which is found, as usual, on the bottom edge, alongside the microphone, speakers and 3.5 audio jack. And the phone's SIM Slot is also found on its left side.
Tecno Camon 15 Pro is heavier and thicker than the Tecno Camon 15. This is as a result of the implementation of the motorized pop-up camera which makes the Pro phone to have a little heavier weight of 203g and a thickness of 9.1mm. On the other hand, Tecno Camon 15 weigh 196g and has a thickness of 8.75mm.
Price and Colours:
The current price of the Tecno Camon 15 is around 64,000 Naira, and it's available in three colour options of Shoal Gold, Fascinating Purple and Dark Jade. While the price of the Tecno Camon 15 Pro is around 105,000 Naira, and it's available in only two colour options of Ice Jadeite and Opal White.
Camon 15 Pro Has Higher RAM, ROM and Better Processor, Yet Same OS as the Camon 15:
Though, both Camon 15 and Camon 15 Pro are powered by the Mediatek chipsets, nonetheless, while the Tecno Camon 15 comes with the Helio P22 (M6762); an octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz, Tecno Camon 15 Pro is fitted with the Helio P35 (M6765), which also an octa-core processor, but has a faster clock speeds of up to 2.35GHz.
Though, Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 15 Pro also come with the same PowerVR GE8320 GPU (Graphics processing Unit). But, on their spec-sheets, the PowerVR GE8320 GPU of the Tecno Camon 15 has a maximum clock speed of 650MHz, while that of the Camon 15 Pro has a slightly faster GPU clock speeds of up to 680MHz. Therefore and just like in their processors, Tecno Camon 15 Pro also has a slightly better graphics power than the Camon 15.
And concerning their RAMs and internal storage capacities, Tecno Camon 15 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage capacity, while the Tecno Camon 15 Pro, on the other hand, is fitted with a higher 6GB of RAM and twice internal storage space of 128GB. Nonetheless, both phone's inbuilt storage can be expanded, via microSD cards, up to 256GB.
Meanwhile, both phones are running on the latest Android 10 O.S. and Tecno Mobile's HiOS 6.0 Custom UI.
Camon 15 Pro Has A Sharper Display:
Though Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 15 Pro have the same screen size, and both of their displays also feature IPS-LCD Panel. Yet, the display of the Tecno Camon 15 Pro is sharper and clearer than that of the Camon 15, because it comes with a FHD+ resolution, while the display of the Camon 15 has an HD+ resolution.
In other words, and despite having the same screen size, the 6.6-inch screen of the Camon 15 Pro has a FHD+ resolution of 2340x1080, while that of the Tecno Camon 15 has an HD+ resolution of 1600x720. Which makes the Camon 15 Pro display to have an higher pixel density of 390ppi, while the Tecno Camon 15 display has a pixel density of 268ppi. Therefore, the pictures and videos will appear more clearer and detailed on the Tecno Camon 15 Pro display than that of the Tecno Camon 15.
Both Have Almost The Same Back Cameras, But Camon 15 Pro Has A Much Better Selfie Camera:
Though, both Tecno Camon 15 and Camon 15 Pro come with Quad-lens back cameras, still their Quad-camera lenses are made up different megapixels. For instance, the Quad-lens back camera of the Tecno Camon 15 are made up 48-MP Main lens, 5-MP Ultra-wide lens, 2-MP Depth sensing lens and 2-MP QVGA lens. Compared to that of the Camon 15, i wonder why Tecno would put 4000mAh battery inside Tecno Camon 15 Pro, considering its FHD+ display and better processing power. Anyway, none of the two phones supports fast charging, therefore, it'll take you about 2Hrs 40Mins to charge the Tecno Camon 15 Pro from 0 to 100 percent. The charging time will be more than that for the Tecno Camon 15.
