The recently unveiled Camon 12 (CC7) and Camon 12 Pro (CC9) are the latest models of the Camon Series from the Tecno Mobile. The two phones are the successors to the Tecno Camon 11 and 11 Pro.
Except for their sleeker design and a few upgrades, the latest Camon phones still maintain most of the attributes of the previous Camon 11 Pro.
Like the Camon 11 Pro, for instance, both of the latest phones feature the same 64GB internal storage capacity and similar amount of RAM. Three of them also have the same MediaTek P22 chipset, similar battery capacities, and similar higher megapixels Selfie cameras. Though, out of the three Camon phones, Camon 12 Selfie camera has the lowest megapixels.
NOTE: There is another stripped-down variant of the Tecno Camon 12; called Camon 12 Air. Compared to the Camon 12, Camon 12 Air offers Helio A22 chipset, 3GB of RAM, lesser internal storage capacity, but it comes with a bigger and attractive Dot-in Display.
Meanwhile, unlike the Camon 11 Pro, that features dual-lens back camera, Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 12 Pro are fitted with the triple-lens back camera, both of the new phones also feature slightly bigger displays with different types of screen-notches.
And while the new Tecno Camon 12 are fitted with the IPS-LCD panel, like the Camon 11 Pro, the more equipped Camon 12 Pro comes with a an AMOLED panel.
Because the latest Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 12 Pro seem to have a lot in common, this quick review is about the differences and similarities between the two phones.
Design of the Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 12 Pro:
While the Tecno Camon 12 Pro looks exactly like the recent Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus, Tecno Camon 12, on the other hand, is a little bit different from them.

Meanwhile, the main visible differences between the Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 12 Pro are highlighted below;
-Camon 12 has a bigger display.
-Camon 12 has a Waterdrop-notch display, while Camon 12 Pro has a Dot-notch display.
-Camon 12 Pro features AMOLED screen instead of IPS-LCD screen.
-Camon 12 Pro comes with Bixby Button.

In details, Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 12 Pro feature different screen aspect ratios. Instead of having 19.5:9 aspect ratio like the Tecno Camon 12 Pro, Tecno Camon 12 features 20:9 screen aspect ratio. Furthermore, the AMOLED display of the Camon 12 Pro also has a slightly lower screen size of 6.35-inch, while the less equipped Camon 12 comes with a more bigger 6.52-inch IPS-LCD screen.
Apart from their different screen sizes and types, another subtle difference between the two phones is the shape of their screen-notches. In other words, Tecno Camon 12 Pro dispay is adorned with Dot-notch, Tecno Camon 12 features Waterdrop-notch.
Flipping them over, each of the phones comes with three back cameras; which are arranged in a vertical manner, alongside the quad-flash, inside the camera module.
Meanwhile, instead of having traditional rear-mounted fingerprint reader like the Tecno Camon 12, Tecno Camon 12 Pro comes with a more sophisticated In-display fingerprint reader. Besides the In-display fingerprint reader, Camon 12 Pro also has dedicated Google Assistant Button on its left edge, this button is also missing on the Tecno Camon 12.
Apart from the Google Assistant Button, there is nothing unusual about the Tecno Camon 12 Pro again. In fact, the rest of its buttons and ports remain the same as those of the Tecno Camon 12. Therefore, the usual 3-in-1 SIM trays are located on the left edges of both phones.
You'll find the ear-piece slightly above the screen notches, while the phones' dual Screen-Flash are embedded on both sides of the notches. The volume rockers and the power buttons are also located on the left edges of the two phones, while the 3.5mm audio jack, speaker, microphone, and MicroUSB port are found at the bottom edges of both phones.
Price, Weight, and Colour:
Although, both phones have polycarbonate (glass-like) backing, nevertheless, Tecno Camon 12 Pro comes in only one colour option of Dawn Blue, while the Camon 12 comes in 3 different colour options of Dawn Blue, Dark Jade, and Sky Cyan.
Perhaps, due to its bigger size, the Tecno Camon 12 is thicker and heavier than the Camon 12 Pro. because while the Camon 12 has a thickness of 8.2mm and weigh 179g. Tecno Camon 12 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a lesser thickness of 7.8mm and lesser weight of 164g.
The current price of the Tecno Camon 12 is 63,500 Naira (KSh 16,999), while that of the Camon 12 Pro is around 75,000 Naira (KSh 17,999).
Same Storage Space, Processing Power, But Camon 12 Pro Offers Higher RAM:
Compare to the 4GB of RAM of the Camon 12, Tecno Camon 12 Pro features an higher 6GB of RAM. Still, both of them feature the same MediaTek MT6762 Helio P22 CPU, a Cortex-A53 Octa-core Processor, with the clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz. And they also feature the same PowerVR GE8320 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
Both Tecno Camon 12 and the Camon 12 Pro also have the same built-in storage capacity of 64GB, which is expandable, via MicroSD card, up to 256GB.
Both of them are also preloaded with the Android 9 Pie O.S. But while the Tecno Camon 12 Pro features the latest HiOS 5.5, Camon 12 features a slightly lower HiOS 5.0.2 version.
Same Back camera Set Up, But Camon 12 Pro offers Clearer Selfie Camera:
Tecno Camon 12 front-facing camera is made up of 16MP lens, while that of the Camon 12 Pro is made up of 32MP lens. Therefore, due to its higher megapixels lens, Camon 12 Pro Selfie Camera will deliver a more sharper selfie pictures than that of the Camon 12.
Nonetheless, both of them come with the same picture enhancements features such as AI-Clearer, and the two of them also feature Dual-screen flash and Face Unlock.
Meanwhile, each of the Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 12 Pro feature AI-Max triple-lens back camera, and their triple-lens back camera also comprises the same 16MP Main lens, 2MP Depth Sensing lens, and 8MP Ultra-Wide-Angle lens; which has ability to capture 120 degree Field of View (FoV).

Instead of having physical rear-mounted fingerprint reader like the Camon 12, Tecno Camon 12 Pro comes with the trendy, and more advanced In-display fingerprint sensor, and this is made possible as a result of the implementation of the AMOLED panel on the latest Tecno phone. Also present in the Camon 12 Pro is the Google Virtual Assistant dedicated Button, and it's located on the left edge of the phone, but this Button is missing on the Camon 12.
Tecno Camon 12 Has A Better Battery Capacity:
Compare to the 3500mAh battery of the Tecno Camon 12 Pro, Tecno complements the bigger display of the Camon 12 with a better 4000mAh battery. Though, when it comes to the phones usage and their battery lives, the lesser 3500mAh battery capacity that came with the Tecno Camon 12 Pro shouldn't be an issue, because the Amoled screens are known to consume less power, besides, the HD+ (720p) resolution of the Camon 12 Pro's display will also preserve the phone's battery life.
