Google just ditched the usual single-lens back camera for a dual-lens camera on its latest Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. And like the previous Pixel phones, there are reports that the picture qualities of the photos taken with the cameras of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are quite impressive.

Apart from the photography aspect, the new Pixel phones also come with many interesting features such as 90Hz refresh rate displays, highly responsive Face Unlock, Motion Sense, Oh So Orange colour options and so on. Both phones are also equipped with an high performance SD855 processor; which Google complements with 6GB of RAM. Both of them also feature the latest Android 10 O.S.

Nonetheless, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL still come with the same conventional design, unsatisfactory battery capacities (especially that of the Pixel 4), and the usual internal storage configurations.

DESIGN
Except for their different screen sizes, Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL feature an identical design.
And because the latest Pixel 4 XL doesn't feature screen-notch, like its predecessor, therefore, both of the new phones also look like the previous Google Pixel 3, with a few modifications, though.

For instance, and despite sharing almost the same screen sizes with the earlier models, Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL features a different screen aspect ratio of 19:9, which makes the new phones to be slightly narrower than their predecessors.

Also, the bottom bezels (or Chins) that came with the previous Google phones are absent in the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, though, both of the new phones now have thick foreheads (top bezels), like the previous Google Pixel 3.
Google has also replaced the dual-lens front cameras, found on the earlier Pixels phones, with a single-lens selfie cameras, in the latest phones.

From the Back View
Moving on to their backs, the square-shaped camera modules are the main noticable feature that really differentiate the back of the new Pixel phones from those of their predecessors. And the dual-lens back cameras of both phones are arranged in an horizontal manner inside the camera modules.

Besides the distinct camera bumps, there is nothing else on the back of the latest Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. This is because the usual rear-mounted fingerprint reader has been replaced with the Face Unlock.

Meanwhile, Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL feature aluminum frame, which is embedded between Corning Gorilla glass front and back.
The power buttons and the volume rockers are placed on the right edges of the phones, while the USB-C ports are located on their bottom edges, in-between the stereo speakers.

Price Of The Phones and New Colour Option:
Though, like the earlier models, Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL also come in Clearly White and Just Black colour options, but Google has replaced the third colour option i.e., Not Pink with another one called Oh So Orange (Limited Edition).
The current Prices of the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are listed below:

In the US:
Google Pixel 4 XL: $899 (64GB), $999 (128GB).
Google Pixel 4: $799 (64GB), $899 (128GB).

In the UK:
Google Pixel 4 XL: £829 (64GB), TBD (128GB).
Google Pixel 4: £699 (64GB), TBD (128GB).

Dual-lens Rear Camera:
Google still equipped the Main rear camera of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL with a 12.2MP lens, like the previous Pixel phones, but the aperture of the latest camera lens has changed from f/1.8 to f/1.7.
The newly introduced or second back camera is fitted with a 16MP f/2.4 Telephoto lens.
This lens features 2x Optical zoom, and the camera is meant for taking portrait pictures (pictures with adjustable Bokeh Effect).

Hi Rez Zoom, Night Sight, Astrophotography and Live HDR+:
Although the Single rear lens of the earlier Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL was capable of taking nice portrait shots, still, with the introduction of the Telephoto lens in the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the portrait pictures will be much better. And with the help of the Hi Rez Zoom (introduced in the Pixel 3), the latest Google Pixel phones are also capable of taking a better Portrait picture of subject from a far distance.

Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL also feature an improved Night Sight. Also, introduced in the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL, Night Sight functionality is similar to that of the Night Mode; which is found on the recent Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Apple's iPhone 11s.
Meanwhile, the latest Pixel phones' Night Sight now includes another feature called Astrophotography.

While the Night Sight let's you take a bright and clearer pictures of people and places at night or in a low light environment. Astrophotography, on the other hand, gives you privilege to take a clearer and detail picture of stars (and heavenly bodies) in a clear (but dark) night and in a still condition.

But the process involves timing (about 4 minutes) and tripod (or stands) because you can't simply take the astrophotography picture by holding the phone with your hand.

There is also Live HDR+, which shows you the preview what your photo is going to look like, and present you with the opportunity to adjust it in real time, before you take the shot.

8MP Single Selfie Camera And Face Unlock:
Unlike their predecessors that have dual-lens Selfie camera, each of the new Pixel phones comes with a single, 8MP (f/2.0), Selfie camera.
Still, like the Google Pixel 3, the front-facing camera of the latest Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are capable of shooting only 1080p videos, while the Selfie camera of the latest iPhones have ability to shoot 4K videos.

Like i said earlier, instead of having fingerprint reader, like the previous phones, the latest Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL feature Face unlock. And the experts acknowledge that the Face Unlock of the latest Pixel phones is one of the fastest around.
And this swiftness is as a result the Google Motion Sense radar, which aid the quick response of the Face Unlock as soon as you touch the new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

The Motion Sense also allows you, through hand movements (gestures), to move your music tracks forward (or backwards), and to dismiss the incoming call or stop the alarm.

Smooth Display (Higher Refresh Rate OLED Screen):
The uniqe features of the latest Pixels phones' displays is their 90Hz refresh rate screen, which Google referred to as the Smooth Display.
More than the 60Hz refresh rate screen of the usual phones, the 90Hz refresh rate display of the new Pixel phones enables the texts to become smoother and clearer.

When the need arises (and depends on what you are doing), the latest Pixel display has the ability to shift between 90Hz refresh rate and 60Hz refresh rate quickly. Though, by default, the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL Smooth Displays are set to 90Hz refresh rate, if you want to, you can turn off the 90Hz refresh rate from the phones' Display settings.

Ambient EQ:
Also, the Smooth (90Hz) Display of the new Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL features Ambient EQ. Similar to the Apple's True Tone Display, Ambient EQ changes the colour temperature of your phone's screen to match the ambient light of your surrounding.

Meanwhile, like their previous Pixel phones the latest Pixel phones feature flexible or Plastic-OLED (P-OLED) Display panel, which still supports HDR and 100% of DCI-P3.
Furthermore, compare to the 5.5-inch screen of the Pixel 3, Google Pixel 4 comes with a slightly increased screen size of 5.7-inch.

But, the bigger Google Pixel 4 XL features the same 6.3-inch screen like its predecessor, though, as a result of the new phones' 19:9 aspect ratio, the 6.3-inch screen of the latest Google Pixel 4 XL features a slightly diffrent QHD+ resolution of 3040x1440 (537ppi). While the 5.7-inch display of the latest Google Pixel 4 comes with a slightly different FHD+ resolution of 2280x1080 (444ppi).

The above info also implies that, despite having slightly increased screen size, the 5.7-inch display of the Google Pixel 4 still has the same sharpness as that of the Pixel 3 (which has 443ppi). On the other hand, and according to its pixel density (given above), the 6.3-inch screen of the Pixel 4 XL is sliglty sharper than that of the Pixel 3 XL; which has a pixel density of 522ppi.

Faster Qualcomm SD855 CPU, 6GB RAM, But Same internal Storage Capacities:
Although, like their predecessors, both phones are also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset, the new phones feature the recent Qualcomm SD855 processor (also found in the recent Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10).

The Qualcomm SD855 is also an Octa-Core CPU, like its predecessor, yet it offers faster clocks speeds of up to 2.84GHz, and it also comes with a better Adreno 640 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
Google also complements the Qualcomm SD855 chipset with an higher RAM of 6GB, therefore, you should expect faster and better performance from the latest Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

Furthermore, the phones are also pre-installed with the latest Google's Android 10 Operating System (O.S.); which packed some interesting features such a better Dark Mode, Smart Reply, Live Caption and so on.

Meanwhile, Google maintain the same internal storage space configurations, of the earlier Pixel phones, in the latest ones, i.e., both Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL come with the internal storage option of either 64GB or 128GB. And still, both of the new phones don't support MicroSD Card (for storage expansion),  like their predecessors.

Unsatisfactory Battery Capacity:
Like the earlier models, the battery capacities of the latest Google Pixel phones are also not satisfactory, especially, that of the Pixel 4. Because the smaller Pixel phone comes with a 2800mAh battery, while the Google Pixel 4 XL is equipped with a better 3700 mAh battery.

Obviously, the difference in their battery capacities is as a result of their different screen sizes, buy that doesn't overrule the fact that the battery capacity of the Google Pixel 4 is on the low side.

The new Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL 90Hz refresh rate displays might not be that easy on the phones' battery lives, though the latest Android 10 promises to be energy efficient Operating System, nevertheless, .

Both of the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL support 18W fast charging and each of them also comes with an 18W USB-C Charger. Both of the new Pixel phones also support Wireless charging, like the earlier ones.
By the way, when it comes to their dust and water protection, both of them are IP68 Water resistant Certified.
