Compared to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus come with a more beautiful design, upgraded cameras, higher 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB internal storage space and a faster Qualcomm SD855 processor. In-display fingerprint reader and Wireless PowerShare are also some of the interesting features of the new Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus.
Meanwhile, in addition to the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, Samsung introduced another Galaxy S phone called Galaxy S10e, and it's a stripped-down variant of the two main flagship phones.
As a result, it attract lesser price and it also features slightly lower specs such as a 5.8-inch FHD+ display, dual-lens back camera and a capacitive fingerprint reader. In short, Samsung Galaxy S10e can be compared to the iPhone XR; the stipped-down variant of the iPhone XS and XS Max.
Note: If you've have always preferred a Galaxy S phone with a flat, non-curved screen, Galaxy S10e might be an answer to that.
An Attractive Design, Upgraded cameras And Bigger Infinity-O Displays:
Except for their traditional edge-to-edge screens, Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus are more visually appealing than their 2018 counterparts.
As usual, out of the two latest phones, Galaxy S10 Plus has a bigger 6.4-inch display, while the Galaxy S10 features slightly less screen size of 6.1-inch; which is a hair breadth less than the 6.2-inch display of the previous Galaxy S9 Plus. Yet, despite having almost the same screen size as the Galaxy S9 Plus, Galaxy S10 appears slightly narrower, which is due to the adoption of 19:9 aspect ratio in the latest Galaxy phones.
Also, due to completely removal of top bezel and implementation of punch-hole (located at the right corner of the screen), Samsung has able to gain more screen real estate in the new phone. For instance Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus has 93.1% screen to body, which is much higher than the 83% of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
And, as a result of the newly adopted punch-hole, the screens of the latest galaxy phones are now referred to as the Infinity-O Display. And it's the punch-holes that house the Galaxy S10 And S10 Plus front cameras.
Though it is an upgraded one, yet, the front camera of the Samsung Galaxy S10 still features single lens, like those of the earlier Galaxy phones, while Samsung introduces dual-lens front camera to the bigger Galaxy S10 Plus. Also, better than the dual-lens of their predecessors, each of the latest phones is equipped with triple back camera, and they're arranged in a vertical manner. As usual, close to the cameras are the Heart Rate Monitor and Led Flash.
Ultrasonic In- display Fingerprint Reader:
Except for the Samsung Galaxy branding, there is no fingerprint readers on the back of the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, because the visible scanner has been replaced with in-display (on-screen) fingerprint reader, but Instead of implementing Optical in-display fingerprint reader, like many other phones, Samsung unveiled a more advanced Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader in the latest Galaxy phones.
Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader is reported to be more secure and sensitive than the Optical one.
Other Ports And Keys remain the same:
Except for those mentioned ones, other visible attributes of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus remain the same on the Galaxy S10 and S10 plus. For instance, the Power buttons are still found on the right edges of the phones, while the Volume Rockers occupy their usual spot on the left edges.
Right below the Volume keys is the Bixby button; which can now be remapped (reprogrammed) to launch another app.
The Hybrid SIM tray and earpiece are located on the top edges. The phones' 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C connector, microphone and speakers are located on their bottom edges.
Meanwhile, talking about their dust and water or dust resistant, Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus are IP68 Certified.
Lightweight, Price and Varieties of Colours:
Despite having bigger sizes, the new Samsung Galaxy phones are lighter and flatter than their predecessors.
Both of the latest Galaxy phones have the same thickness of 7.8mm, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are slightly thicker with their 8.2mm and 8.3mm thickness respectively.
Also as a result of their 179g and 183g weight, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are heavier than the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, because the latest phones weigh 157g and 175g respectively.
Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus Comes in colour of Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue and Flamingo Pink. But because Galaxy S10 Plus offers Ceramic Backing option, so there are also Ceramic White and Ceramic Black.
The price of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus are highlited below:
Price:
Galaxy S10:
8GB+128GB: $749/ £669/ AU$1,149.
8GB+512GB: $1,149/ £999/ AU$1,699.
Galaxy S10 Plus:
8GB+128GB: $999/ £899/ AU$1,499.
8GB+512GB: $1,249/ £1,099/ AU$1,849.
Samsung Unveiled Dynamic Amoled Display:
Unlike the Samsung S9 and S9 Plus that feature Super Amoled displays, Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus feature Samsung's newly unveiled Dynamic Amoled screens. Compare to the Super amoled display, Dynamic amoled panel offers better contrast and vibrant colours.
Also, because of its ability to cover 100% DCI-P3 (Digital Cinema Initiatives) colour space, Samsung Dynamic Amoled display is HDR10+ Certified.
Which means that when it comes to displaying HDR10+ videos or contents, Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus displays will deliver more accurate colours and life-like pictures than other non HDR10+ Certified displays.
Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus Dynamic Amoled display also comes with Blue Light filter; which reduces the harmful screen blue light that causes eyes strain.
Like those of their prececessors, Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus displays are also equipped with Quad HD+ resolution, though, due to their 19:9 aspect ratio, the QHD+ resolution of the new Galaxy phones' displays are made up 3040x1440 pixels, instead of the 2960x1440 pixels of the earlier phones' displays.
Furthermore, due to their different screen sizes (but same resolution), the 6.1-inch screen of the Galaxy S10 has a pixel density of 550ppi, which is higher than the 520ppi of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus' 6.4-inch display.
Though the maximum resolution supported is QHD+, as usual, the out-of-box or default screen resolution for both Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus displays is still Full HD+ (2280x1080), this is done in order to conserve battery of your new phones. The displays also supports lower HD+ resolution i.e. 1520×720.
Upgraded Selfie Lens And Triple Back Camera:
Better than those of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, both Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus are equipped with upgraded front cameras. And while the Galaxy S10 comes with a single 10MP (f/1.8) front camera, Samsung introduces dual-lens selfie cameras to the Galaxy S10 Plus, and the dual-lens comprises of 10MP Main lens (like the Galaxy S10) and 8MP (f/2.2) Depth sensing lens.
Though, with the use of software, Galaxy S10 also has ability to take Selfie with the Live Focus, but, as a result of its dual front cameras, Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is the only one with the privilege of taking real Live Focus Selfie pictures.
Life Focus allows you to take selfies with Bokeh Effects, i.e., the one that lets you adjust (and blur) the background of your pictures to make the subject pop or becomes prominent.
Although both Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus come with three back cameras i.e., 12MP+12MP+16MP. The Main 12-MP rear camera of the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus is still made up of the variable aperture (f/1.5 & f/2.4) lens, introduced in the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, and it's meant to deliver bright and detailed image of the pictures taken at night or low-light environments.
The second 12-MP back camera is made up of (f/2.4) Telephoto lens, which features 2x Optical Zoom, and it's meant for taking portrait shots (pictures with adjustable Bokeh effects), while the third 16-MP camera is fitted with an (f/2.2) Ultra-Wide-Angle lens which has ability to capture 123-degree FoW (Field of View).
Like the earlier versions, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus are also capable of recording 4K (UHD) videos at 60fps, and they also support Super Slo-Mo 720p (HD) videos at 960fps.
Qualcomm SD855 Or Exynos 9820, With Samsung's One UI (on top of the Android 9 Pie):
Depending on the region, Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus are either powered by the Qualcomm SD855 or Samsung's Exynos 9820 processsor.
For those in the U.S. and China, their latest Galaxy phones are powered by the Qualcomm SD855, a 7nm Octa-core chipset with a maximum clock speed of 2.84GHz, which also feature Adreno 640 GPU.
And for those in other regions, including Europe, their Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus feature Exynos 9820; an 8nm chipset that has clock speeds of up to 2.73GHz. And for its GPU, Exynos 9820 makes use of the Mali-G76 MP12.
Furthermore, Both Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus are running on the newly unveiled Samsung's One UI, which based on the Android 9 Pie Operating System.
One of the interesting features of the One UI is the Dark Mode (which includes dark theme), which is helpful in preventing eyeestrain, most especially, while using your phone at night.
Higher RAM And Storage Capacities:
Samsung Galaxy S10 comes with only one RAM option of 8GB, while the Galaxy S10 Plus presents the buyers with the two memory options of either 8GB or 12GB.
And concerning their internal storages, Galaxy S10 offers two internal storage space options of either 128GB or 512GB.
On the other hand, and just like in the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus' 8GB RAM variant is also paired with either 128GB or 512GB storage space. Nonetheless and irrespective of your choice, both Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus still support MicroSD card of up to 512GB .
Better Battery Capacities And Introduction of PowerShare:
To complement the bigger displays of the latest Galaxy phones, Samsung equipped both Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus with good battery lives, yet, Galaxy S10 Plus is the main beneficiary of this, as the bigger phone comes with a much better battery capacity of 4,300mAh, while the Galaxy S10 packed 3400mAh battery.
Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus support 15W Fast Charging 2.0 and 12W Wireless Charging.
Samsung also equipped Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus with a new feature called Wireless Powershare.
With the Wireless Powershare, you can charge your Qi-enabled devices such as Galaxy buds, by placing them on the back of your Galaxy phones.
